The post-Alex Fergus on era has witnessed a whole lot of drawbacks for Manchester United and every new season comes with high hopes for the fans as they always hope for greater things which have failed to happen.
With the takeover by the INEOS Group, the big question on the lips of everyone is "will their fortunes turn for the better?". A whole lot has been happening with movements in both front and back offices that have continued to raise the hopes of Manchester United fans that this season will be theirs.
One of the many surprising arrivals would of course be the arrival of Moroccan Omar Berrada from the other side of Manchester to serve and Chief Executive Officer on the Red side. Omar has been quick to get himself endeared to the United faithful by sending a letter to the Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST), sharing his immediate plans with them.
Another shocking move for me was the poaching of Dan Ashworth from Newcastle for the role of Sporting Director. Both Newcastle and United can finally breathe fresh air after the long battle over compensation for the English man with Newcastle initially sticking out for £20 million compensation but The Reds were unwilling to pay such huge amount for an off-field personnel. Although the final details of the fees are said to be confidential, it is rumoured that both eventually agreed to a £10 million compensation.
More surprising for me would be the arrival of both Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake to be assistant managers to Eric Ten Haag as part of a major reshufflement in the backroom staff. While Nistelrooy left his role with PSV last year, after doing a fantastic job, winning the KNVB Cup in the 2022/2023 season, Hake joins from his role as manager of Go Ahead Eagles in the Dutch Eredivise.
On the field as well, there have been linked with a host of players: Mathias De Light (Bayern Munich), Manuel Uguarte (PSG) and Joshua Zirkzee (Bologna) - who several reports have it that a deal is almost near completion.
Reports of Brentford's Ivan Toney informing his management of his desire to join The Reds this summer has heated the media and it looks like interesting times ahead.
What will Manchester United achieve in the coming season?
