RE: Sports Washing For Saudi Arabia Buying Newcastle United?

in Sports Talk Social3 years ago (edited)

Football is a business after all

I remember when my club arsenal grooms young players and when the big clubs comes, they always sell. Same thing with Southampton and other small clubs. But hearing this Newcastle big buy, I think it just showbiz. But it's not clear how it's going to pan out. But can we call Newcastle a Big club now?

Sort:

This is different than most other club sales as Newcastle should be a top 3 club due to their fan base. With new money coming in depending on how it is going to happen it can go 2 ways. If it is sports washing like many think it is then profit is not the intention but to win trophies and gain favor with the public. If it is a business venture then they cannot afford to spend 100's of millions on a new squad. I think it is a publicity stunt to make Saudi Arabia look good having a stage to show who they are. Nothing is guaranteed but the football fans are very simple to let this happen like they have. Many clubs are against this sale for this same reason as they can see the bigger picture.

Well on a second thought, it will take years as they can't just transform and get rid of players with current contracts. So they probably will start with the business venture and slowly changing the squad. But it will be a bit funny to me to see Newcastle a title challenger in the next decade.

They will sell some over the January window and bring in two or three big names to get them out of relegation and buy in the summer clearing out the rest. They can get rid of most of the players as they are not expensive ones and can afford to dump them if they have to.
They were a good team 20 years ago with Shearer,Ginola and Gillespie along with Peter Beardsley and nearly won the title twice. They have such a big fan base up North that this club needs deep pockets. This is no business venture and cannot be seen as that considering there isn't one player who they can really keep and build around. This is a total rebuild including manager etc and it will be funny if Zidane or another big name goes there leaving Manchester United with very few options out there.

I was one year old, 20 years ago😄 forgive me for saying little about the Newcastle team.

Ps: My great Arsenal couldn't even defeat crystal palace tonight🤣🤣🤣.

Yep your team is crap and the dumb fans couldn't see what a great job Wenger was doing. Since he left you team has not been relevant and could never be ever again as nothing is guaranteed. That is why United winning the title again may or may not happen. The wheel turns and relying on past glory days means nothing.

🤣🤣🤣 There a saying "You don't know what you have till it's gone"

PS : @cryptoandcoffee how can I reach you? I have some suggestions on the sports community growth I would like to share.

It's definitely going to take time even with all the money to get a team like Newcastle become a big team in Europe.
