We entered our new home for our mega annual cricket event.
Sports is in our DNA from childhood and that spirit will remain forever with us, probably death only can separate us, because our generation has grown up like that. You have seen in my previous post, how much pain we took to build the new ground for our mega cricket annual event, but the plan got spoiled by weather. However, we were not disheartened and probably that's another quality that we are brought up with - sports polished it by taking us through challenges, wins, loss and teaching us to have patience and prepare better to make it possible next time - the can do attitude.
So finally we were able to schedule our mega annual event on our new home - the excitements to play on this new ground was at highest level.
And since this was our first entrance, rituals were followed as per our tradition. A coconut broken by our senior most player(who started the team four decades back) and offered along with incense sticks.
Discipline and respecting seniors is another quality that has been absorbed to our DNA because of sports. Full control was given to senior most players, in their sixties, dividing the players into two teams, and two senior most players leading them. This year, we decided to have only design for the t-shirt for both the teams, and our guys did a lovely job of spending time with the designer to make sure the look was brilliant.
So all set to start the event, but hey, that delicious Dahibara Aludam, an authentic cuisine of my place cannot be missed.
This was organized by one of our member, taking complete responsibility and bearing all the cost as well. And the quantity was abundant for everyone - most of us ended up eating two three times - where do you get this quality !!
I did not know that they are planning to play with cork balls - that was tough, but no looking back.
The kit was ready, brought by the junior members, who are currently playing. So all set to start the event, we decided to make it a 20 over match. Our team had to field first and had to chase a score of 170 runs and unfortunately, our front line batsmen did not click, and we lost but it was full of fun.
The pitch has been nicely built at the center.
Panoramic views of the ground to give you an idea of the entire area - once the road work is over, we will have a much bigger area, a community hall built ( work started) and possibly a boundary.
Our team and their opening batsmen were ready and just when we were about to enter the field, the NHAI officials whom we invited, joined us, so we greeted them whole heatedly - after all, they have a big contribution to make this a reality. And they have even promised to extend all kind of help necessary to make it better.
And here are some more pics from the play - the junior members nicely arranged the boundary.
Our all time best senior player who is still playing when opportunity arrives - he was the match winner in a recent tournament.
I never thought, I would be able to bowl so well - completed my four over quota nicely and did a good job with the bat as well before being caught up accidentally🙂
And wait, this time we had audience too..
And a good day cannot not go without a nice lunch - the cook who was booked for the original event did not have time, so our guys took it over. But they did a very nice job of making that nice delicious meal.
Few items, but focused to meet the need of everyone - ever felt that quest after playing under the sun ?
And our open wash room - we can adjust with anything.
Now that we have a permanent home, we will have more such events. Here is a short video compilation for our memories....

Yes, boundary is important, given the fact you all have put a lot of effort in preparing it. Try to plant some tress as well, that will give a nice green barrier in the long run.
You look so handsome in this attire.
One day I would go there and enjoy it live.
Thank you.

Impressive sanjeevm ji! I love your enthusiasm to sports. To me nothing is more important than participating in sports.
Even young people around me ignore going to ground. I am a sports lover. My childhood spent just playing. It satisfies me. Still I love to play but people got less care now a days. Looking at you and your friends , I find myself helpless. Hardly I find anyone of my age but I love to play with youngers.
I missed your previous post on ground work, I must visit it. What you are doing, everything is familiar to me except the last part, fist at the end! That was unexpected for me.😆 We will try it next time.
I'm glad that the weather never disheartened you. This event is very important for you, as I remember you also shared in the past about this event. Enjoy!
Glad you found a new home for cricket. You also had great foods there.

I'm glad the weather conditions improved and you were able to play. It's like a veteran's game. The pitch conditions could be improved a bit, you were promised that.
The food looks pretty delicious too. It looks like it was a great event.
Namaste Sanjeev Ji.
Aapko is tarah khelte dekh mujhe bhi mann hota hain but yahan na to koi ground hain naa log. Bas TV hi ek entertainment ka madhayam rah gaya hain, mere jaison ke liye.
I am jealous because it is almost impossible to find a plain ground in the mountains. I also love playing cricket. Anyway, I congratulate you Ann for this wonderful initiative.
