I didn't even stay up to watch it and from what I am hearing about the people that did, Netflix experienced a huge amount of streaming issues that really pissed off the people that decided to go out of their way to watch this thing. According to the PPV numbers, the people who paid to watch it didn't have this problem.
I suppose Netflix, unsurprisingly, didn't plan on having that many millions of people trying to connect to the same feed all at once.
I was in my bed and just watched the text updates and based on how boring the text of the fight was I can only imagine that the people who actually watched it, let alone went to Texas to see it, were really pissed off. I'm back here like "what did you expect?"
All of Jake Paul's fights have been snoozers so is it really a surprise that when he fights a 60 year old that the guy fights like you would expect a 60 year old to fight?

The first round apparently was a bit exciting with Tyson connecting with some powerful shots but after watching the highlights, if you can even call the snippets of moments of actual contact "highlights" it is easy to see that this "power" that Tyson is known for is well and truly gone. I don't fault the guy for that, I am 10 years+ younger than he is and I'm slowing down a great deal from how fast I was at anything in my youth.

If you didn't watch it, don't. Basically the whole fight went like this: Paul, being larger and significantly taller, kept Tyson at distance by constantly throwing jabs. This is a good strategy towards Tyson who is actually quite short. This was a problem for him even when he was in his prime but back then he was quick and evasive enough to get in the "pocket" and throw some arm-rockets at whoever had the misfortune of being on the receiving end of his wrath.
It shouldn't be surprising that Tyson doesn't have that speed anymore and Paul prepared for it anyway. It was kind of a dirty, yet legal trick that Paul used that anytime Tyson closed the distance in the first 2 rounds Jake Paul would hug him and wrap him up so that he couldn't do any damage. Jake Paul was warned by the referee for doing this excessively in the early rounds. Jake only needed to survive those first 2 rounds though and I am sure he knew this.
By round 3 Tyson was completely gassed to the point where he was barely even throwing any punches and this is where the fight became truly boring.

probably talking about where they are going to go party with their combined $50 million after the "fight".
A lot of the critics didn't even wait until the fight was even over to express their disdain for this shitshow with one very prominent boxing commentator and ex-champion Terence Crawford saying "it looked like trash." According to some sources, many of the people in the crowd who presumably paid a lot of money to be there, left the arena early because nothing was really happening.
Jake continued to throw weak jabs and Tyson was too tired to mount any meaningful offense. His gloves were up to protect but he was no longer shooting. Tyson landed a mere 18 punches across all rounds.
While I knew it would be bad, and my expectations were low, I never really thought it could possibly be this bad.
My hope here is that people will finally remember this one and start to turn their backs on these exhibition boxing matches that have basically taken over the sport. We are foregoing actual quality boxing matches for this garbage and I am sick of it along with many other long-term combat-sport fans.

this article details how Tyson made more than a million dollars for every punch he landed
I suppose the good news is that UFC will feature Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic and also Olivera vs Chandler later tonight, so perhaps that can get this awful taste out of our collective mouths.
What did anyone expect and even though I had no interest in watching this many are saying the fight looked scripted and dare say that this was very true. Tyson biting his gloves was possibly a reminder not to throw punches and stick to the script.
I must have missed that part of biting the gloves, maybe he was sharpening his mouth-guard in case he had to go in for another ear-shot.
I reckon Tyson disappears for a while because the media is just going to hound him about this for ages. He'll do some private podcasts but I reckon that will be it. Go enjoy your 20 mill buddy, maybe be smart with it this time.
I saw a lot of "leaked" scripts online. I don't think it was scripted, I think it was just bad.
I hope he holds onto this pay check which I think he will.
It was boring but what can we expect from a fight between a youtuber and an aging boxer? At least the undercard and the women's fight were bloody and exciting.
yes, Taylor v. Serrano 2 was absolutely epic. It also set a president for the next fight that it was never going to be able to top 😃
I guess, still the point was watching Tyson again. And we did.
I don't think it did much good for his legacy... it did a lot for his bank balance though.
I enjoyed to see the last fight from Tyson and I'm glad he didn't get knocked out.
