There is a reason why we love football. Why we enjoy the beautiful game, and today's champions League match between Manchester City and Real Madrid is perfect example of why that is. It had everything. Goals, saves, fouls, drama, etc. this is peak Champions League entertainment. I just finished seeing the game and I really couldn't help writing about it. From the moment the draw was made, and Manchester City was drawn against Real Madrid for the playoffs I already knew I was going to be seeing the game. Two teams with incredible quality, and with incredible counter attacking ability, you just knew it was going to be an end to end game.

The game started off in quiet fashion, with City seeing a little bit more of the ball, and looking more likely to open the scoring. Real did have some moments, with Kylian Mbappe spear heading the attack, but they couldn't take their chances. Fast forward to the nineteenth minute and City finally broke the deadlock thanks to a tidy finish from Erling Haaland, finishing off a lovely layoff from Josko Gvardiol to score his first goal against Real Madrid. Not long after the second half began, Mbappe finally gets himself on the score-sheet thanks to a looping volley, albeit miscued. City regained their lead late on in the game after a careless tackle from Cebalos on Phil Foden, and of course Haaland dispatched it nicely to get his second of the game, and it looked like the game was going to end that way but the Los Blancos had other plans. Brahim Diaz got the equalizer for Anceloti's men in the eighty-sixth minute. The substitute pounced on a rebound from Ederson after a shot from Vinicius was blocked by the Brazilian shot stopper, before Jude Bellingham ensured victory for Real, following through on a strike from Vinicius. Real Madrid go into the second leg with an advantage and look more likely to qualify for the round of sixteen.
