Morning or Afternoon, depends on what side of the sphere you're on. I'm not sure if anyone from this particular community has seen any of my other things that I do have smattered around the web. I've been mostly in the WeedCash Network.
No. No worries check out that community if you already haven't.
If I can I'll paint, it sticker it and or just make it different, if I can.
This 2017 F-250 4x4 6.7L Turbo Diesel rear end, gear oil change is going to be no different. I'm sure you have noticed already, not only is the rear end a bit dirty, but also my paints were just as grimy. I've been busy in the garden and another ranch, and well as most in Southern California know the streams trickle to a stop and sometimes so does creative flow.
AnYwAy...
Fun right, doing in the dirt. I have a nice piece of cardboard to crawl around on and slide back an forth.
No Worries..
Dana Dog knows what's up. Hot as pHuck out hit 101 on this day, and was lucky enough to have had the breeze kick up to a wind. Perfect for exposing a 10.5" ring gear. No need to worry about sAnD getting in there right?
Right?
pHuck, oh well, No Worries just stole an old pillow case and replaced the steel cap with the new flexable absorbable one.
Not sure your preferences, I do prefer AMS but Lucas is just as good.
I would love to share the ring gear pictures and the pillow case cap but had a memory card malfunction. Got these though.
Upgrades abound on the web, all very pricey. Well it all kind of boils down to a drain plug and aluminum. Down side to the drain plug is that you have no chance to inspect the ring gear for excessive wear or even hairline cracks depending upon how heavy your foot is.
I jest, this particular wear would result in excessive hauling or overloading often.
After a dip in the Simple Green tank and swab of the towel and it went from black and grimy to pink and white and shiny. I had some orange and a stencil on there as well. That particular scheme did not work. I kept the pink ring. The cap went back to the tank sept this time I had washed it off with some acetone to clear the paint completely and restart.
Oh well.
Totally frustrating actually took all day Truck was not moving weather it needed to or not.
Well the cap and ring applied. Might be a little hard to make out but the gray ring around the cap is T-31A, an actual Ford Motorcraft sealant, their RTV silicone variant. I know, why would you go out of your way to pay extra, stand in that aweful dealership parts counter knowing your paying more for their version. I will not be accused, later that the fluid change didn't happen @ 106K miles and that I didn't use proper "Ford Motercraft" materials. Happens to every capable mechanic that has ever traded in a car/truck, happens to me anyway.
I'd like to note that sometimes things go faster with help. This particular "help" was only looking for a good nap spot.
They, meaning my heard, love to "help". I have 3 helpers actually and they love to grab the nearest tool and start turning.
Wrench screwdriver, hammer, whatever strikes their fancy, has nothing to do with getting a part changed or off, if that does happen, that means I will actually be having to change the part they were helping to "remove".
Having cars and kids will teach anyone situational awareness and accountability, real quick.
Speaking of real quick, this 1982 Ford Mustang GT H.O., was it for a while. Folks either hate or love the Fox body.
Meh.
That's how I feel about this style, I love this ride though, drove away from the alter in this one actually. Two tone silver and black, with the 1980's red fabric interior, big heavy sway bars forward and rear. They were trying everything to keep it glued to the road except, add weight.
So I did take the the Logo Air Filter cover is off displaying the 5.0 insignia. You will have to take my word for it.
This vehicle happens to have A/C and Power Steering, down side is the smog pump there on the lower left under the alternator.
It looks dusty but so far the worst thing I've found was a few black widows and lots of dust, so far no chewed wires. Cats are helpful long as they are tuff enough to make it on the "outside", life here on the "Farm".
I've only got chickens, and goats, and gardens, no beasts of burden yet. One day.
Dreams you know like NO more smog restrictions on this particular powerplant, not that it seemed to hinder performance, when it was working properly that is. Those parts are even harder to find then actual engine parts. Vacuum Lines and check valves are hard to get ahold of when they aren't manufactured anymore, or I could be looking incorrectly. Either way this engine is going for a change anyway no more of that, probably still keep it Naturally Aspirated just not vacuum controlled.
Such a terrible idea.
I've already had this engine out once for it's first refresh build, went thru a ring ridger and new pistons and rings twenty thousandths over, new bearings all around. Like Oprah and shit.
Well you know how that goes, think its all fine an dandy an what actually happens now, you gotta pay 5k in taxes if you want what's in the envelope she stuck under your chair.
After a full rebuild the wrong camshaft was installed.
Next time on, Are the bearings gonna need to be changed as well?
This beauty needs a full rebuild and exhaust upgrade for sure, mostly to prevent overheating in the Spring Summer and Fall around here. I actually had a set of canvas bags that I use to hang ice in front of the grill when cruising in So Cal.
Bonus points for knowing the engine compartment in the last 2 pictures
I'm unsure of how to award points, but I'll work on it.
KnottyDaddy, Tied Off.
Wow that mustang had better days... I do love the placing of your art, I would love to see you paint an entire vehicle or part by part on a different post, also a post of how you bring back that mustang into driving conditions would be AMAZING, big hug and do remember that Hivemotors is about mechanic, there are intersections where art and mechanic can cross over, like painting a car or re-designing scraps of engines to make a statue or something :)
I know that mustang. I've seen that mustang in..
Much better condition.
What's it been doing, sitting in the middle of a desert or something?
It has.
That desert sun is pretty brutal but I'll take it over humid an hot, it might not have lasted this long.
Yeah well I've ran raceways in the middle of the desert and didn't look as shitty as that mustang.
My skeleton's shot but meh... I only got about 30'ish years left anyway.
Whaddup kiddo? What's the Mrs. up to? Not sure if I'm allowed to namedrop, I'd bite your head off if you namedropped the D in D and A, give'er a hug for me and a peck on the cheek. NOT THAT CHEEK! And knuckles around to the kids especially the one who has the same A as me.
Lotta code talk here huh? But you understood it.
Unfortunately the examples of art work on display are disproportionately distributed. So many conduits an wire make ups. You if you think about it those are the time capsules left behind by previous craftsman to future one to find. Like that gargoyles ass point towards the city hall cause the head Mason
at the time did like the Mayor.
Beauty is doing well, making the shop she's at accountable for tools required to complete the job successfully an be cost effective. Union runs off once you've been shown the way. LOL.
The little spuds there are getting on great lots of help actually keeping up with harvest an mechanics. They are learning well.
