Hello guys. I will love to say good day to all on this platform. Today I want to discuss how to connect a
rear view camera on your vehicle.
First of all I will like to explain what a rear view does.
As the name implies a rear view camera makes
you see what is behind your car without you straining your neck to look backwards.
To install a rear view camera you must first purchase the equipment for the installation.
First you must
purchase the rear view camera and purchase a monitor the monitor and camera will look like this
Also you must buy power and video cables they will look like this
for some rear view camera installations [not all] you will need a camera and splitter cords. ( they must
have connections for power and video). Normally most kits contain these accessories while some may
require that you purchase them.
Note that some camera models will use wireless transmitters while some use standard video cables.
Now lets talk on how to install the camera cables.
Normally the first thing to do is to remove the
licensed plate number.
normally you will use a screw driver to do that. And be
sure to keep them in a safe place so you don't misplace them.
The second thing to do is just to remove your trunk interior covering. Some call it a panel so to speak.
This panel covers the opposite side of your trunk. When you remove this panel it will expose the
interior wiring of the rear of the car.
The third thing to do is to make a small opening or hole in the plate number area.
make sure nothing blocks that hole. The opening should be behind where your power an video cable
will pass. Its your job to figure out where that hole should be.
The forth thing to do is to get a rubber grommet that will fit in the hole you made and fix it in that hole
that your power and video cable will go. It will look like this.
next you should run the cable [camera cable] through the grommet into your trunk or boot as some call
it. It will look like this.
note that this cable should run from the outside of the trunk to the inside.
Next thing to do is to find out where your cars reverse wires are. This wires connect the rear lights or
tail as some call it to the dash board of the car. They look like this
The next thing to do is to peel a part of your vehicles reverse light wires and use a screwdriver to prick
a hole.
As shown in the picture you will have to use a pliers to peel a part of the cable and use a tool to make a
hole in between.
