Kindness and rocks... what do they have in common? In a few words, I will try to explain...

A week ago I felt as if someone had hit me with a rock.

Of course, it quite hurt as it came unexpectedly. They were just words, and imagine how a real stone hurts. The pillow absorbed the tears that night but the rocks appeared the next day again - in a completely different way. They came to inspire me. To lift me up and call me to action. To give a different meaning to that matter - to bring love and kindness instead of ache.

The inspiration came from this little display in a care centre for elderly people where I played the piano that afternoon.

I saw the painted stones, the effort, the affection and the message they could mean to these elderly people. Through creativity, they converted lifeless stones into flowers, animals, faces, and shapes. It was cute, and not just that. These colourful stones made me think.

What if we could convert all the words that hurt and bring disharmony into kindness...?

The jar of pebbles and stones from my balcony could help me with this! I know, I didn't show you this collection of stones, but here you see it. Soon they will be painted!

I picked one little stone, cleaned it and brought something to paint it — don't laugh hahaha - I found nail polish and some permanent markers. When I had an idea what my little rock will be I brought also a package of tiny googly eyes! 👀

It was a nice feeling to paint this rock, my husband took this photo of me doing it. I guess he was surprised seeing me with the nail polish in my hand.

When the red one was done I let it dry and painted another rock with a golden colour.

When the red rock was dry, I drew it a head, a line in the back and spots. It was the moment when my first painted rock was born. A tiny ladybug, waiting for the second googly eye to be attached.

Done. Resting in my palm...

I know it is far from being perfect but it is my first painted rock and without proper material. Nail polish and markers are not the best for this activity, I will have to buy acrylic paint for the rocks. Also, use bigger rocks as it is pretty hard to draw in these miniatures.

The ladybug asked for friends so a few more pebbles joined the painted collection. The golden one had to bring a message to smile often, but the paint was still sticky and the word OFTEN was messed up. The marker got sticky and the letters came out ugly when I tried to correct them with a different marker.

For Caring Rocks I used a very light pink nail polish, let it dry well, and used a CD/DVD marker which later had to be thrown away as it is meant for CDs and not for rocks...

A small pebble with a peculiar shape got eyes and the message that kindness is always a good option... it simply rocks. The black heart-shaped balloons on the red/purple painted rock wanted to say that it is fine to be out of the ordinary. Do things differently even if it is not always understood.

All in all, the rocks from the jar are getting coloured, in a very imperfect way but with a very perfect goal - transform ordinary things into kindness. And share it. When I become a bit better, I will leave my painted kindness rocks on the beach, or a bench, in someone's window or entrance.

Ideas will come, but the first step is done.

A community for all those who want to paint rocks and share kindness is here.

It is open to everyone! Use it when you need to convert an unpleasant situation into forgiveness and kindness through decorating a stone.

Use it when you want to bring a message or you just want to paint on a rock.

When you want to be creative.

Share with us your tutorials or stories, about how and why you decided to decorate a rock, and whether you left it in a public place or gave it to someone special to you.

It can be a simple message, letters written with a pencil or a marker or the most artistic creation. It is up to you.

Maybe some challenges will come too, so stay tuned. In the meantime, I will try to improve with these drawing activities!

Muchas gracias 😊

🥂

excellent!!

🤗

I am glad @googlyeyes likes the googly-eyed ladybug 😇

That's a cool idea. Creativity at its peak. Well done

Thank you 🤓

A very interesting initiative. And especially because they carry a message. I haven't seen a ladybug in my environment for a long time, I don't know what happened to them. Here they are called cotorritas. This initiative gives the opportunity to give a stone with a message to soften those hard hearts out there that sometimes make us suffer for bad actions. I don't have any stones at home but I will look for them. I liked it. Thanks @mipiano.🤗🥰😇

I am sure you can find some little stones around your home or when you travel to the countryside. Sometimes the rocks already have some interesting shape but when not, we can decorate then or write a message to make others smile :)

Nice day, 🥰🤗🌺.

What a great idea. I really like your nail polish marker ladybug.

Thank you, Sara. 😇

Painting or drawing is not my forte but you can imagine how much fun I have had while making that little ladybug. Hahaha, like a kid. When I buy a set of acrylic paint or pens, then I can start practising 😁

Hope to see some of your painted rocks, if you like the idea and fancy joining in 😇

Now these hard and rigid stones are symbol of kindness and giving soft n tender expression.
Why this idea never came to my mind!
I am happy to see another community in hive ecosystem.

Another community, yes, open to everyone who wants to join in 😉

Now .... will need 21 day weeks, because this idea is great!!!! Rocks... I have the sea nearby, well a 40 minutes walk, painting... I have oil paintings. Imagination... no limit.

You know, I have a former student who did the same thing you did because she loves rocks, you reminded me of her, a great woman. I think I know a lot of people hahaha

Excellent idea @mipiano!❤️

Yes, a 21-day week would be perfect for everything haha. Initiatives, challenges and now rocks for all of us, to paint in those few free seconds we have between work, tasks, families, hive, sleep and many other things hahaha

I am looking forward to seeing your painted kindness rocks ;)

In a few days, I'll solve some issues .... and I'll go to the beach to look for rocks hahaha I'll love this!!!!

I love your fun rocks. They are all pleasant but that little lady bug is SO adorable.

Thank you @jacey.boldart 😇

I hope to buy asap a set of toys - I mean acrylic markers as you have so more ladybugs and other little creatures can come :))

Toys ! I love new toys.

I look forward to seeing what you come up with on your future painted stones.

Another new community! You're so creative, love the heart shape balloons.

I was hesitating whether to share this or not when I saw my little rocks and their flaws but here we go, life is here to keep learning and improving what we do!

(this morning I realized that maybe the workshop in The Kingdom to paint the little Hefroms and that we didn't have time to do in October was an additional subconscious trigger to start painting these pebbles. 🤔)

Beautiful your rocks...waht a simple and lovely idea...you are invited to my next activity in the beach..! the nature's beauty with the human kindness together are together to make the difference...

Thank you, and you are invited here to share your creations 😇

I simply 🧡 this idea.

You've created such a beautiful collection of 'kindness' stones. Don't wait to start spreading them around the globe. They are more than good to go. The little buzzz ladybug is so cute. The red with black balloons 🥰
While absorbing the idea, I saw video clips playing in my mind with people finding a rock. Others, you and perhaps even myself placing rocks. Mine not so nice as yours, just a word, or two, in black.

already kindness vibes flowing outside and inside HIVE

You don't say it just because you are my kindest adopted son, right? 😁

I know you mean it! 😊

If I manage to make a nice kindness rock, for sure having an orange heart on it, it will reach you in less than a month, in a different country by a common friend/family member 😉

Just a word, or two, in black.

They will be perfect too. Minimalistic style, with a short but powerful message, or a thought, a word. Anything counts and imagine the reaction when someone finds it 😍

Btw, a few years ago we found one pebble with one word written on it - the name of my husband, so it was too weird just to leave it there, on the beach. We took it home and still keep it 😇

...that travelling rock will find a cozy warm place for sure... I shall prepare already

what I nice find is that! the rock with your hubbies name ok, that must have some meaning to it. did you figure out what that is?

wondering: I could get an Edding 3000 marker, but then I thought - isn't that a bit too much for nature when a rock finds its way not in the hands of someone, but instead is embraced by water.. chemicals and stuff? and what if this leads to tons of peeps doing the same? more chemicals and stuff? ... orrrrr am I just overthinking all this? ... YES, I am pffffff 😆😆😆

Worried about chemicals? I thought there are those that are good? 🤔

😆

I think I need to send you a basket full of pebbles 😉 and a few markers 😇

😂

the postman may get a hernia while handling the logistics of 'kindness'

😂

In that case, the postman can maybe take one pebble from the packet and use it to make his painted rock, with a message:

Dear sender,

Please refrain from using our services until further notice. Your kindness is too heavy.

😆😆😆😆😆😆😆

Why this is a nice idea, I love that those stone has new face where people can enjoy it more. Love the creativity too. You really think of a good idea in here. I feel like picking up some stone outside and design it too like this 🤩❤️

I feel like picking up some stone outside and design it too like this 🤩

Do it! It is a lot of fun while painting it, waiting to see how it turns out and even if it is not the best version or how we wanted, it is our effort and kindness we gave into it 😇

Would love to see when you managed to make some ;)

Great idea for a new community. The ladybug looks super cute :) I´m sure you will get a lot of kind engagement in this community :)

@tipu curate

Thank you @phortun , kindness has to be shared all over the world, through the screen or these rocks 😇

Greetings to your girls 🤗

Wow!!!

Congratulations for this new community, I will try to contribute my grain of sand....well my kindness rocks XD

Hey, artsita! 😇 Me puedes recomendar pinturas?

I am looking forward to seeing your contributions!! Many many mdrguez kindness rocks, with or wothout flowers :)))

I will paint my first rock soon, to ease the pain of those things that life puts in our way. Channeling helplessness and frustration through art...and maybe it will have flowers 😜😆.

IMG_20240327_171640.jpg

I will be waiting for your happy rocks 🥰

Congratulations on your new community, Mipiano. I've never painted a stone before, but it makes sense from a creative point of view. After all, you have nothing to lose and the chances of messing something up are very low 😂

Thank you, @incublus!

Well, there are thing to mess up, you see that one where I wanted to write smile often didn't come out well. I will have to practice, of course with music and taking easy on me...

That was an excellent job
Kindness costs no dime!

siiiiiii 😇

mi especialidad jajajaja

We have lots of pebbles here in our house, thanks for a very nice idea. I am looking forward to try this with my son. It'll be a good way to express our feelings as well. 💖

Oh, I will be looking forward to seeing those decorated rocks, if you make them with your son 😇

I love the idea! Painting is not my field, but I can see myself choosing a rock from a walk, using something non-toxic to write a message, and then returning that rock its place ... another deepening aspect to the dimensions of music, art, and nature I already enjoy ...

Painting is not my field either but somehow I find it satisfying to draw {it is better to say "try to draw" hahahaha 😂} on them 😇

One rock that got a small message on it will be travelling to Venezuela these days with its owner (a Hiver who is in Spain now on a tour with his choir) 🎶😇

Oh, we have a mutual friend then -- @jesuslnrs!

Spot on ;)

Me encanta esta comunidad. Amo decorar piedritas. 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Oow what beautiful stones I'm going to dare to paint some

Yay!!! I am looking forward to seeing your contributions if you decided to paint some @yolimarag 😍
