Beginners tutorial to Rising Star

in 1UP3 years ago

The object of Rising Star is to earn Starbits, a tradeable token on Hive, by completing missions. Because Rising Star is a so called incremental game all you have do is press Start and wait for a timer to decrease to zero to get rewarded in Starbits. By investing those Starbits in game cards you can increase your earnings from missions. This makes Rising Star so enjoyable to play.

To play Rising Star the first thing you have to do is register. You can do that here. Rising Star will only work with Hive Keychain installed.

When you start playing you are presented with the main screen

On the left your find the current player status

  • The player card shows that you start out as a humble busker.
  • The amount of energy, shown in the energy bar starts at 100%. Each mission you run will require and use up a certain amount of energy. The more rewarding a mission, the more energy is used. When your energy is too low you can't play anymore. Your energy level replenishes automatically at a very slow rate. It will restore quicker when a mission rewards you with a Coffee and it restores fully when you are rewarded a Pizza Slice
  • Fans are needed to run missions. The number of fans increases temporary when a mission rewards you with drunken fans or permanent if you buy cards that contain with Fan points.
  • Luck determines the number of drunk fans you get from a mission and increases temporary when a mission rewards you with a Four Leaf Clover or permanent when you buy cards that contain Luck points
  • Skill only starts to play a role after you reach Level 15 when Ego is added to the game play.
  • IM (Income Modifier) is not important in the beginning.

On the top left of the screen you find icons to go to the Home page, to select missions, to buy and sell cards, to view your achievements and ranking, etc.

On the top right of the screen you find information about your current Level and the amount of Starbits and Starpro in your account. You can save up your earned Starbits to buy card packs in the game or transfer them to Hive Engine to buy cards from the market place. Starpro you can forget for now.

In the Zone you select what type of mission you want to run, after which you are presented next to that with the available missions within the selected zone. The default zone is Standard Missions with Buskeria pre-selected, where you can choose between missions from Illegal Busking until Saturday Headline
The other zones (Special Missions, Festival World Tour, Music Promotor, Custom Shop and Music Lessons) you can discard as a beginner

You start playing by choosing a mission. Each mission requires a minimum of Fans, Level and Energy to run. The more rewarding a mission is, the more fans, level and energy it requires. In the beginning you have just enough of those to select mission Illegal Busking.

When you press Start a timer runs for the duration of the chosen mission. Illegal Busking takes 5 minutes to complete, during which you can do other stuff. When the timer reaches zero you get rewarded a few Starbits, a few level points that increase you level and if you are lucky a few drunken fans, some Luck, a discarded pizza or a coffee.

This is enough to get you up and running until level 15 when an Ego bar is added. You should then keep your Ego as low as possible, because it reduces the rewards you get from missions. To reduce Ego you can increase Skill buy running Music Lessons or buying cards with Skill points.

Your goal in the game is to increase the amount of Starbits you get from missions by increasing the number of fans and level. Why don't you give it a try ?
