However, if we analyze those of these that have worked, we realize that there is a minimum common denominator: the calorie deficit. Without a calorie deficit it is impossible to lose weight. Why? Even if I believe that the choice of foods in a diet is essential, our body does not care where the calories and nutrients come from. Our cells do not recognize if a glucose molecule comes from oats or pizza, for them it will always be a molecule of C6 H12 O6. Metabolism is nothing more than the set of anabolic (construction for conservation purposes) and catabolic (destruction for energy purposes) processes. To lose weight, the body needs to lack energy that it will take from its reserves, such as adipose tissue (fat). This is because the body will tend to maintain homeostasis (balance), therefore, if it is deprived of the energy necessary to balance metabolic processes, it will tend to break up energy reserves (if the balance is negative) or to "build" new ones (if the balance is positive).
