INDIFFERENCE DOESN’T MAKE ANY POSITIVE IMPACT.
Greetings to all #Hivers in the house, and all the beautiful members of #Emotions/Feelings. Also my special greetings goes to @hive-102879 for the initiative to come up with this amazing topic that will enable us share our views and life experience. This is my first post on this community and I look forward to having more of this.
Let me start by stating what indifference is. Indifference according to the oxford dictionary is defined as the lack of interest, concern, or sympathy.
Indifference happened to be a psychological attitude which has a negative impact on humanity. Indifference is one of the worst character an individual will ever have in a society. It kills faster than we can ever imaging. Indifference has never made any impact on humanity, rather it has destroyed so many lives.
One of the greatest human needs is to be loved and cared for. But indifference happened to be the direct opposite of that love and care. It’s a negative attitude that drives away people from you. The world is full of people with lots of problems that needed solution, but if you are a person of indifference people will not bother coming close to you because they will always feel rejected and embarrassed as a result of your attitude.
permit me to share my experience. I happened to have a boss in the company I worked for. In early 2021 when I got the employment, I was fortunate to meet Mr. Gabriel, who happened to be the operation manager for the regional office at Abuja. I was fortunate in the sense that Mr. Gabriel is so accommodating that he always made sure he offers a solution to any problem brought to his table. He literally fights for the welfare of all the staffs under him. I could remember he fought tirelessly to ensure that I am fully employed with all benefits when the HR were suggesting that I should start as a casual staff. He’s indeed a man everyone speaks good about, and the staffs joyfully do their jobs and even more because their welfare is properly taken care of.
One year after my employment, it happens that Mr. Gabriel was promoted and transferred to Lagos. And a new manager (Mr. Obasi) was brought to our region. Unfortunately for us Mr. Obasi happened to be the direct opposite of Mr. Gabriel. He’s a man with no human sympathy. A man that doesn’t even show concern about his staff welfare. He’s a man that doesn’t care about what the staffs are going through. All that matters to him is that ‘Let the work be done’. Complaint arose from one staff to another yet he gave deaf ears to all. Queried are been served by him to both Junior staffs and supervisors on a daily basis. Many staffs were sacked and many willingly quit. Mr. Obasi became unbearable that no one wants to associate with him, because taking any issue to him is like worsening the whole situation. At this point people are just working to survive. No one is enjoying the work anymore, just because an indifferent leader came on board. It is indeed a terrible moment for us all but what can we do since he's the boss.
Secondly a scenario also occur between me and one of my friends, which almost claim the life of his mother. One day, I was at home when this friend of mine rushed into my room, requesting for a debt of twenty-five thousand naira (N25000), That he needed to use it for his mum's treatment urgently. At that point in time I had up to that amount in my possession but I don't want to give him even though I know the need is a pressing one. And this is because he had borrowed money from me several times without paying back. He was so confused because he had no other place to run to for help and his mum's life is at stake. He couldn't hold back his tears in confusion. I could literally feel his pain, but the question is; will I ever get this money back if I gave it to him? Considering the fact that the money is not mine and he's still having some pending debts to clear. i suddenly had pity on him, considering the situation on ground. I had to give him the money to enable him make the deposit at the hospital for the doctor to attend to his sick mum.
So the point is that; the mum's condition was a terrible one which requires the urgent attention of the doctors but a deposit needs to be made before she is attended to. Had it been I was inconsiderate and indifferent towards him, it might have been a different story today.
In that regard I want to conclude by saying that 'Indifference doesn't make any positive impact', rather it destroys lives. Therefore I want to admonish anyone reading this piece not to be indifferent towards other people because you never can tell how desperately that person needed you.

It is difficult to live and work with people who are so indifferent to the needs of their employees.
