STRICTNESS IS NOT WICKEDNESS

One thing I have come to realize in dealing with both humans and the situations we find ourselves in, is that there is always a balance to every circumstances. In dealing with human beings, you have to be able to not consume yourself and your principles just to please people. sometimes, it is okay to be stern or severe in dealing with situations that warrant it, if not people would take your soft-heartedness for granted. In order to exact these disciplines or to clarify issues using a stern or severe approach, one has to do it with fairness and respect because these are important as well but you do not want to come off as irritable or inconsiderable.

In other words, it is sometimes advisable to be strict and this is so because in a world where we live in with people, we need to set in place some certain tones that will imply the seriousness and effectiveness of an order or an action. For example, a teacher in a teenage School would have to balance between being friendly and a disciplinarian. We are all aware that teenagers often love to explore and in doing so they tend to break the rules and regulations of a given community. Hence, a teacher cannot be entirely soft and gentle in his approach to implement discipline and ensure that rules are followed.

In other words, the teacher must be stern to be able to correct such behaviors when they occur and In a manner that teaches accountability and respect. Sometimes, I look back to when I was in school and I realized that most of our teachers who were strict those days did it to be able to properly impact knowledge and to teach us the Ways of Life for instance, their methods were to imbue respect, discipline, sanitation and so on. In my secondary school, we used to have a Reverend sister who was very Stern to the point that whenever she was on duty for the week we would always make sure that the rules of the school are followed to the latter like wearing of clean uniforms, cutting our fingernails, reducing our hair, cleaning our classrooms, performing our morning duties as borders, going early for morning masses and so on.

In conclusion, to be strict is not to be wicked, rather it about showing seriousness in matters that require discipline, boundaries, or clear communication. This can happen in relationships, friends, families etc. Some people tend to do more 5han is expected and when you tell them to stop jokingly the just brush you off, but when they realize your tone of voice is firm, direct and your body language is serious, they will adjust properly.
