I was with some of my colleagues at the lodge and we were just randomly talking about the relationship between a husband and a wife in a home, what brought about the argument was a story of a man who felt Insecure about his wife's wealth, cause his wife earns more than him, and so most of the attention and respect goes to her coming from the kids because she basically finance most of the things at home, so this man accompanied his friend to visit a spiritual man, but when the man saw him he queried what the man wants, he Jokingly said "I want my wife to loose her job" this is he says without meaning what he said, but so was it, three days after the wife lost her job.
Somehow he was happy that his wife now gives him attention, spends most of the time in doors, take care of the home and kids like doing the wifely thing, but then on the other hand he was scared and disturbed that whatever happens was becoming too much, cause his wife's palm started turning white, her heir started turning grey all of a sudden so now he seeks for answers as to weather to confess to the wife or just let everything slide cause he is so scared of loosing his wife if she hears of it.
So now the question is that men are usually not satisfied if their wife is wealthier than them, the ladies said it's true while the men said its not, that in whatever case there are happy that the woman is able to lend a helping hand.
There is something predominant in the African society and the world at large at that is the fact of how we Humans were created, generally we have some sort of ego and pride, the men are naturally meant to fluent it, while the women are meant to subject theirs to their men, that's why in marriage the wife is to be submissive, take care of the home while the husband loves, care and provide for the them
Reverse will likely be the case when the wife is a working class woman, who probably earns more than the man, that order is likely to be altered, sometimes the man now feels intimidated or insecure that the wife will loose respect and obedience to him, while some argued against it, that since respect, trust, loyalty is earned, the woman will always respect and stay loyal to the man if he continues to love her despite the financial status, showing her love and attention will naturally command respect and there wouldn't be a problem weather or not she earns more than him, instead it will be a thing of joy that a man finds a well supporting wife.
Also the man should as much as possible tries to do more and cover up his responsibility in the house, doing what is necessary, When it is necessary and do it well, a lot of men lose respect from their wife's when they leave all responsibility to their wife just because she earns more while they do nothing.
