Life’s Little Annoyances

As we navigate life every day, there are things that get on our nerves. While they might be small or insignificant to others, they are capable of ruining a perfectly good day. Have you ever felt pissed by something and you just want to run outside and yell your lungs out? Have you ever had a perfectly good day, only for it to get ruined by something or someone? For today’s Inleo prompt, we are asked to discuss the things that make us angry. When I saw today’s topic, I decided to conduct a survey with my friends, asking them about the things that annoy them the most. Some of the answers included a crowded space, biting my tongue, people shutting me up, wearing combos with more than 3 colors, being broke and not able to get money immediately, and many more. These are everyday things that get on our nerves and can ruin a perfectly good day.

For me, there are so many things that get on my nerves, and the one that tops the list is a bad network. In my area, the network connection is so poor that it can make you go crazy. It was worse in my former hostel. There was always no service in my room, especially during the day. So, if I wanted to do anything, I had to take a walk outside the hostel. When I moved into another hostel, although the network connection was still poor, it was way better than my former hostel. The most annoying part is when it goes out when you're doing something very important. The last time this happened was at the beginning of the year. One of my New Year's resolutions is to post every day. To make things easier, I made it a habit to write early in the morning.

However, I had a school exam that day and was unable to write in the morning. I got back from the exam hall at 3 pm. So, I started writing and was done before 5pm. I added my tags, topic, and images. Just when I was about to hit the “publish” button, my network went off. If not for home training and anger management, I would have smashed my phone on the ground (xd), plus, if I had done that, I would have regretted it my whole life- I had no money to buy another one. I thought it was the usual glitch that happens once in a while and that it would be back in the next 5 minutes. 5 minutes turned into 30, and before I knew it, 2 hours had passed and everywhere was dark. I didn't want to lose my posting streak and was worried. After about an hour more, the network came back and I was able to post. Imagine going out to buy something and you're unable to make the transfers because of bad network. It gets on my nerves.

Another thing that annoys me the most is being disturbed by area boys. Although my area is mostly occupied by students, about 20% are not students, but indigenes who have homes in that area. Most of them are probably in their early 30s, and one thing about them is that they don't like to work. Every day, you see them gathered in strategic spots, smoking and drinking. They disturb every student they see, especially the guys, begging them for money. The fact that they are in their 30s, yet they don't see anything wrong with begging students for money is very concerning. They have turned it into their daily job to beg students for money instead of working. They always position themselves in strategic places where students frequently pass. Sometimes, when you fail to comply with their requests, they become violent and threaten you. Getting stopped by these guys is very annoying.

Lastly, another thing that annoys me is people who smoke publicly. I mean, people who smoke while walking. I stay in a student area. During the night, you see students coming out and smoking while they walk. I don’t have anything against people who smoke, but if you're going to do it, do it indoors. It is annoying to get choked by the smell of cigarettes and weed.

Home training didn't make you smash your phone or you thought about the cost of another phone? All these things can piss us off and those touts case is getting out of hand, they act as if Nigeria is not affecting everyone.

Ah! Home training, anger management and the cost of a new phone made me compose o.😂

That network eh?? The reason I can never use glo unless I want to be changing my phone. I remember browsing outside by 2 am because there is no network in my room. That's how my phone got stolen by armed men.

Guy, Glo is so bad here! Chai! I pour them spit.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣... According to Hope Do the calms 😂

The network issues is also one of the things that gets me very annoyed especially when you want to do something urgently or just want to surf the internet but you will have to go to other places aside from your house just to get a better network, that gets on my nerves alot

as well as the smoking part where people just smoke anyhow and anywhere with no regards to whoever is affected by it

There are so many more but some situations we just can't help it

People who smoke publicly don’t care about others. The fact that they think it is a flex is concerning.

MAN, ALL THESE ARE JUST ENOUGH TO GET ONE PISSED OFF. I CAN TOTALLY RELATE TO THE AREA BOYS PALAVA. I REMEMBER AN ENCOUNTER I AND MY FRIENDS HAD WITH A NUMBER OF GUYS. ONE OF THEM EVEN TOOK MY BAG PACK MY DAD HAD GOTTEN ME FEW DAYS BACK AND THAT WAS THE LAST TIME I SAW IT, LOL. BUT WE JUST HAVE TO TRY AND NOT LET THESE GET TO US

The areas boys are just so annoying. Like, just get a work and stop begging. They don’t have shame at all.
