They had their first child, and things were still rosy. The love grew as if the spark reignited with the birth of their twin girls. They loved each other, and the love transferred to the children. Even though they were not newly married, the years grew beautifully with them in love, and every day seemed like a new day in their home.
Whenever we heard their voice or screams, they were playing. They would sit outside just beside my grandpa’s house, talk and laugh loudly while also tending to their girls. The girls grew beautifully too, and then their brother came. The love was still beautiful.
Trouble erupted in their little paradise when people from the extended family decided to move back home because things were not so rosy for them at their destinations. They found it hard to pay rent, so they felt they should return home. It was their grandparents house anyway.
It was a large house where each family had their flat. This couple lived in one that belonged to the late father of the husband, and it was blissful for them. At least, the cost of rent was out of the way and their grandparents were late too. Also, no other family members were at home, so it was like they were alone in there, hence, the bliss.
The first man that returned home with his family got irritated by their lovey-dovey and tried to cause a friction. He indeed was successful because he was the head of the family anyways, so only a few people could counter his words.
Suddenly, the screams of joy and laughter that we were used to soon turned to that of agony from beatings. The husband resorted to beating his wife not long after the family house started getting filled again. The elders in the family, men and women felt like the wife was being too free with her husband when he should be commanding respect.

Somehow, they initiated the man into the thoughts of power belongs to the husbands, and he didn’t fail to show that with as much cruelty as possible.
Soon, the wife left home to establish herself, leaving the kids behind. Of course, she needed to at least find her footing before thinking of carrying her kids with her.
Four years later, her restaurant business boomed, and she was doing well.
One day, a thief who used to steal people’s fish from their farms was caught and he confessed that he sold to the woman whose restaurant was growing bit by bit. There and then, the police officers arrived and were about taking the woman with them when her ex-husband showed up.
He had heard the news as soon as the thief was caught. It was a small town anyways, so it wasn’t shocking that he heard fast. Quickly, he swung to action and found out the food vendors that bought fish from the thief and his ex-wife wasn’t part of them. Well, he saved the day.
Everyone was confused because of course, he had no business being there in the first place. There, I realized that some loves actually never end even though it looked like it has ended. There’s always still an iota of care and love from the sweet memories they’ve once shared.

They were a beautiful couple. They lived together and in a kind of relationship that was rare in the community. They went everywhere together and did almost everything together except for their individual jobs. It was a beautiful sight for me because even though I didn’t understand what love or marriage should look like, theirs looked so beautiful that I looked forward to seeing them.

What a beautiful story. I'm really glad that at the end of the day tge couple were able to reunite together despite the interception caused by the external family
