Breast Cancer: Impact, Prevention, Management, and Awareness

Cancer is a very dangerous disease that affects the cells and goes on to destroy body tissue. It's one of the most deadly diseases out there, and one of the body parts that it plagues the most is the breast, and out there we've come to see loads of women suffering from breast cancer. I personally think it's high time we create awareness for this. As we join forces in fighting again breast cancer as we mark another international breast cancer day.

I personally despise this disease called breast cancer, and the reason isn't Farfetch; due to this notoriously deadly disease, I've lost loved ones, watched loved ones go through pain and get bedridden, and all of these in a way affect me emotionally, and paraventure I know of a cure that can eradicate it. I'll be the one championing how it'll be accessible to all, so all women can be free from breast cancer.

About five years ago, I remember one of my junior sister friends with whom we would stay in the same neighborhood had breast cancer, and this changed her completely. It was a difficult phrase, not just for her but for her family and loved ones, but after spending loads of money on her health and taking her from one hospital to another, the disease ended up claiming her life. It was a painful pill to swallow for me because she's someone I've always known, and seeing how breast cancer cut short her promising future just weakened me.

I can remember another of my colleagues at my former place of work also had the same disease, and despite all the efforts she put in to help herself, it all went to waste, because even after going through surgery and the doctor removing the tumor, after a while, another way was discovered, and given how it kept on reoccurring, they had no choice but to cut off their breasts. It's quite disheartening to even think about, but then in the end she chose wellbeing over having a breast that's inflicting her with pain.

With all that I've seen and experienced, my advice is that we should take our wellbeing seriously, and that's why I decided to highlight some measures to help prevent breast cancer. Although it doesn't mean it's 100 percent effective, it'll at least help in a way, and they're.

  • Try maintaining a healthy body weight.
  • Eating healthy food and diet
  • Indulging in regular exercise
  • Reduce or stop smoking and alcohol consumption.
  • Indulge in prolonged breastfeeding.
  • Go for regular checkups and screenings.

On the other hand, when it comes to managing breast cancer for patients that already have it, I also state some ways of properly managing it, and they're:

  • Abiding by the prescribed treatment plan.
  • Ask questions regularly to stay informed.
  • Eat healthy and follow a medical practitioner's guide on what to eat and not eat.
  • Indulge in exercise and physical activities.
  • Seek emotional support from therapy and family members.
  • Indulge in regular medical checkups.

It's essential to that that when we make healthy decisions and choices and maintain that kind of lifestyle, it'll help in both prevention and managing life during breast cancer, and it's my prayer that everyone going through this phrase will heal and come back to a perfect state of health without any form of disease.

We as people should also come together to create awareness for breast cancer, just like we do for some other diseases, to help get people acquainted with the disease and know what to do and steps to take in checking themselves for signs, and one way we can do this is via awareness walks around the street, social media event awareness, visiting schools, institutions, and workplaces to educate the people, and many more, to mention but a few.
