"The depth of field always gets very shallow when working up close with a macro lens. Using the shallowness to make the details stand out is an enjoyable part of composing these images. I also find that in monochrome, I get a 1950s sci-fi vibe, which is quite fitting as those types of stories played a part in inspiring a series like Star Wars."

"I would like to call it good planning but it was just shear coincidence that we were heading to Yoyogi Park for a walk and the area was full of fully activity. We knew it was a public holiday but were pretty surprised to see such a big crowd at the Shrine until we worked out it was actually Japan's National day or Kigen-Sai."
