Sida acuta: An unknown plant (ENG - SPN)

in Quratorlast month (edited)

Greetings on this occasion, wishing you a month of health, happiness, prosperity and abundance. Observing our environment involves paying attention to what is usually there. This is especially important when we identify plant and animal species, because this way we can discover treasures that would otherwise go unnoticed. For years now, some plants have been growing on my plot, to which I really did not pay attention until now, I only saw some members of Mr. Morrocoy's tribe, eating their long branches, and I say some, because each Morrocoy has its own tastes. gastronomic. The truth is that I set out to identify this little plant, which is interesting, because it produces pale yellow flowers, which are beautiful to see.

When doing the comparison with Google Lens, I found that this little plant has the scientific name Sida acuta, (it was the closest correspondence I found), but I could not find almost any material or studies that have been done regarding it. I also did not find oral sources that told me if the plant has any use as a natural medicine, so the information I offer here is brief.

The information I obtained tells me that it is a silver native to Central America, although it is currently distributed throughout all tropical areas of the planet, which is why I can see it on my plot. They are bushes up to a meter high, with toothed leaves, and small flowers in which I rarely see any melipona bee approaching to drink, so I think it has no value as a honey plant. The underside of the leaves is a matte green, which contrasts with the brighter green of the front part of the leaves.

Another interesting information that I got is that the plant has alkaloids, specifically quindoline and cryptoleptin. Quindoline is active against gran-positive bacteria, and cryptoleptin, which is derived from quindoline, is an alkaloid with antibacterial, antiherpetic, antimalarial and antihyperglycemic capabilities, it also inhibits platelet aggregation, making it ideal in the treatment of certain cardiovascular diseases, and like quindoline, it is active against gram-positive bacteria. All this indicates to me that it could be an important natural medicine for the treatment of infections caused by gram-positive bacteria, against malaria, herpes, and also for the treatment of diabetes. And even though it has action on herpes, I have not heard that it is used for the natural treatment of Herpes zoster or shingles.

Here I end my post today, in which I have shared the images of a plant that in any case serves as food for some of the morrocoyes, and surely for some insects, and obviously, has its ecological niche in the small ecosystem of my solar. I say goodbye to you, wishing you good health and well-being and remember: Not all days are the same, and even more important: Everything you give, everything you do, will inexorably return to you. Hugs!

Thank you @sirenahippie for the very interesting post, I've seen a similar looking plant here in South Africa, not sure if it's the same species. Well...next time I see it, I'll take a closer look. Thank you for sharing, will stop by your next post.
Have an amazing day.

Hi @artywink

It is possible that that plant you see there, in South Africa, is a variety of this one.

Thank you very much for your visit and kind comment, sorry for my delay in responding to you. Have a great week!

No problem @sirenahippie I think you are correct, it could very well be a variety of the same plant, I'll definitely look out for it next time.
Have an awesome day.

hello @sirenahippie mam
How are you

This combination of green leaves with the wonderful nature and environment is really wonderful to see. Which is highly commendable. But we have to be more creative in the care and proper maintenance of these plants. But your garden plants look great in the form of small flowers. Thank you very much for presenting to us the beautiful story of the wonderful nature and environment. But I have seen such nature and green leaves in our city too. Which grows in size. I hope God bless you always with all abilities. I pray for forgiveness for you and your family and those who have become grave dwellers.

Have a lovely time.
