thing i was thinking, and i could be wrong as my knowledge is really week, is will that make it more centralized.
one of the big points, even from steem time and especially after steemit stake was moved, was how distribution is getting more and more decentralized, and how whales don't have that much control as they used to. If all distribution goes to hp holders, witnesses and dhf would not that move it to more centralization?

First of all, if the global reward pool were to be removed, we would prob. also reduce inflation overall. Besides that, right now, many small people are selling their HIVE, and who is buying it? The accumulators aka the whales.
Even with individual reward pools and tipping, I do think there will still be a better distribution than on any other currency, even if whales keep 80% and give 20% away.
it would be interesting to see how much hive is sold (transferred out, because we can't know do they sell it) by whales, orcas, dolphins, minnows, red fish.
I think there are statistics for that. But remember that whales hold the most risk, as they need to power up the stake in order to earn with it, while dolphins, minnows & red-fish hold the least risk.
well more stake more risk or more gain, that is how it works.
than there is a question of is Dan's risk and freedom risk the same, but that is totally unrelated question.
you just came from the standpoint of small accounts just sell and they don't care, but i think you are wrong, i think most of accounts that got to dolphins and "survived" here for few years care as much as whales do. most of the red-fish have no idea what is going on, they just swim randomly and part of them will learn.
again i am a noob in this, so i have no idea should hive go to just witnesses and stakeholders and move rewards to second layer. From people who wrote about it, think that is the road map (maybe not officially).
What will happen with social network part of hive if that happens i don't know. will app owners, community owners be more motivated to make things work, will content creators stop posting because HMT? will have no value and everything will start from beginning... do developers even care about that?
