Fixed star Algorab, Delta Corvi, is a 3.0 magnitude pale yellow and purple double star in the right wing of the Crow, Corvus Constellations. The name traditional Algorab comes from the Arabic word الغراب (al-ghuraab) which means the crow.
Fixed star Algorab is of the nature of Mars and Saturn (malicious, thieving, merciless, fiendish, repulsive, liar, accidents, violent death. If culminating, military preferment but final disgrace.) It gives destructiveness, malevolence, fiendishness, repulsiveness and lying, and is connected with scavenging. It can indeed show up the more troublesome side of Libra, a variation on the truth when an excuse looks to be safer but is not always found to be so – as the Crow discovered. Not a significant star when well aspected, but it can be a nuisance if aspects or planets involved are hard ones.
Algorab, in The Crow, has a Saturn-Mars nature and is said to be a hindrance, especially when other Saturnian influences are predominant. Delays and restraint are indicated to come about by fiascoes, losses, wrong handling of matters and enmity in general. The cosmogram of Kaiser Franz Joseph I is a good example. He has Algorab on his Ascendant, and his life was full of misfortune. A conjunction with Sun or Moon is not good either, if the lights are afflicted… if Algorab is conjunction the Sun, Moon, or one of the malefics, it has a reputation for accidents or injuries that are difficult to avoid.
Agrippa - Algorab is one of the 15 Behenian Fixed Stars. Its image is a raven, snake or negro dressed in black. It makes the wearer angry, bold, courageous and a backbiter, gives bad dreams, the power of summoning or driving away evil spirits and protection from winds and the malice of men and devils. Rules stones of the color of black onyx, burr, quadrangles, henbane, comfrey, and the tongue of a frog.
Burdock seed, leaves, and roots, with the tongue of a frog, placed etc. makes men angry, hateful, daring, and evil-speaking, causes wicked dreams, drives demons away, and protects men against demons and evil winds.
13th Manzil – Al-Awwa (Days: September 19 to October 15)
28th Chinese Xiù – 軫 (Zhěn) Chariot This is the celestial Carriage and it represents the transport of tributes from foreign lands to the Emperor, thus the accumulation of wealth. It also presides over travel of all kinds and vehicles. It also presaged favorable winds and an end to storms.
Events in business bring great profit and everything done heralds fortunate returns. Paying homage to ancestors will honor one with a “Dragon Child”. It is also a great day for marriages and births.
General: Gives benevolence, gain, voyages, harvests and freedom of captives.
With Moon: Sow, plant, take medicine but do not travel or marry.
Looking at the evidence there doesn’t seem to be a notable difference between Gienah or Algorab in their supposed ‘malevolence’. Both Annie Besant and Helena Blavatsky both had their moons on Gienah. This gives the star more credence as being the Behenian magic star since both ladies were leading lights of the theosophical society.

In their day (late 19th century) these women would I imagine have been branded as ‘witches’ by mainstream Christian society. Rosenberg brings up “witch hunts” in her Gienah interpretations and also religious zealots. Generally I feel that all the stars of Corvus have a witchy vibe to them, but most particularly when they align with the Moon.
