"Treat your makeup like jewelry for the face. Play with colors, shapes, structure—it can transform you." ― François Nars
Make-up can hide the scars from the past and beautify the present. Back when I was an elementary student, my mom used to do my make-up while I joined school events. Due to poverty and our inability to buy a complete set of different make-ups, she only used eyeshadow and lipstick. She didn’t have blush, so she used lipstick as blush on my cheeks. Hahaha😂
This is me joining Mr. and Ms. UN when I was a Grade 1 pupil at Buaya Elementary School.
We couldn't afford to rent a gown, so we bought an ukay dress worth 5 pesos at the market.
When I reached my teenage years, I practiced doing my own make-up as I delved into the pageant and modeling world. During photoshoots, sometimes without a glam team, I did my own hair and make-up. For me, wearing make-up boosts my confidence and immerses me in a fairytale world. Every time I wear make-up, I find myself even more beautiful. As I was insecure about having a scar on my face, make-up heals the insecurity inside me about my flaws. As years go by, I have skillfully mastered doing make-up on anyone who believes in my magical hand to transform themselves into an even more beautiful version of themselves.
Back in high school, on High School Day at Ilihan Integrated School, my classmate @iamlovelykate was the candidate for our section. I was pleased to do her make-up, which was simple but made her stand out despite her simplicity.

As many events happened at school, some of my schoolmates believed in my hands when it came to make-up. During the Christmas Party, I was assigned to do @penflecto's make-up for the Macho Gay contest. Hahaha. It was a smokey type of look. I forgot to bring my make-up, so I borrowed my classmate's make-up, but there were only a few shades to choose from, so I only used the dark shades. Hahaha.
Beside me in this picture is @penflecto, claiming his prize as 1st runner-up. I laughed so hard after that event because it was really funny seeing him wearing my leather dress.
Many more events happened where I transformed other beautiful swans during the "Fiesta sa IIS". These two gorgeous ladies were my friend Amanda and @penflecto's sister Catherine. They represented as the festival queens from various groups presenting the Sinulog dance during the event. Look at how their faces scream elegance and beauty.

I sometimes doubted myself when it comes to doing make-up. There were moments when I questioned my ability to enhance someone's beauty, feeling the weight of expectations. However, each time I see the joyful and confident faces of those beautiful women wearing their make ups, it's a powerful reminder of my impact. It's a humbling experience that reinforces my belief in the transformative power of make-up, not just on the outside but within, lifting spirits and boosting self-confidence. Knowing that people trust me with such an intimate part of their self-expression is both an honor and a motivation to keep improving.
As a child, I dreamed of being part of the fashion industry, handling beauties like a fairy godmother in Cinderella it was a happy moment if ever someone asked me to transform beauty to someone they didn't expect they'll transformed to. But I know there are a lot of challenges to face ahead before reaching this dream. If it's God's will, it will be for me.
