Amy Lee-inspired makeup from My Immortal music video

If you're 25 and older, pretty sure you have heard of the band Evanescence even just once in your life as they were really popular in the early 2000s. Among their hit songs were 'Bring Me To Life' and 'My Immortal'.

In their music video "My Immortal", Amy Lee's overall look is what I really remember even as a kid back then. I wanted to recreate the look since it's also one of the songs that comforted me as a teen. :D

Applying foundation is my first step then blending it with my beauty sponge. I'm also wearing green contact lenses which is quite close to Amy Lee's eye color.

Then I applied concealer under my eyes to brighten the area using Fenty Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch Concealer. This was my first time using it and I had quite a hard time using it because it was a bit too thick and dries so quick. I think it's better to use it to cover scars and dark spots than to brighten undereye area. It's a nice shade for me and I can say nice formula as well but I will need some time to adjust to it and learn to use it well.

Then I lined my eyebrows the way I think it's lined in the early 2000s lol - which is quite thin but sharp.

Then I applied bronzer but not too much since the style of makeup in the music video looks like it doesn't really need bronzer. :p

Then for the eyeshadow, I applied a light brown shade as a base for the smokey eyeshadow.

5.jpg

Then I added a darker shade while also blending it outwards. On the second photo, I just used my brush without any powder to smoothen the blend.

Then slowly adding more dark brown and blending it outwards. It's so important for a smokey eyeshadow to be blended well because you would look like a panda if it doesn't have a fade effect. I also added underneath the eyes so it doesn't just end on the upper lid.

Then I applied the darkest brown that I have and blended them. Adding the black eyeliner on the upper and lower lash lines really just completes the smokey eye look.

Mascara and contour are applied as well.

I added a light blush and a nude-ish lipgloss to complete the look.

Here's Amy Lee's makeup if you're not able to see the video:

And my finished look. I really love the smokey eye that I created. I really wanted to make a smokey eye before but I always get intimidated cos it won't look right. I just learned that you really have to blend them out and have a fade effect outwards otherwise it will look weird, which is the advice that I followed and I am glad I did!!

Some black and white shots to feel the vibe of the music video better... haha. I also wore a white top that is quite similar to the one she's wearing to complete the look. :P I also wore my hair close to the style she's wearing.

Oh, and I also put some rhinestones on my left eyebrow cos I don't have a piercing haha.

Anndddd here's a pic that I took with the same pose as the one from the music video. So dramatic haha.

This is what I really like with makeup and photography/video because you can be whoever you want to be. Which also was the reason why I liked cosplaying as well since I can wear wigs and costumes to be someone else for a while.

I hope you enjoyed the makeup as much as I enjoyed it.

What else should I try next? :P

I LOVE Amy lee, she was an important part of my adolescence with her songs, her looks are iconic and I really liked how you recreated it, the black and white pictures are amazing!

So iconic indeed!! I want to recreate some of her other makeup as well haha. Thank you! I was excited to do the bw pics hahah

It looks great! I'm not sure if you can really have an eyeshadow that's over-blended but as you said, you can definitely have it under-blended. The Rhinestones for the eyebrow piecing are a nice touch. Are you in a photography studio? The lighting is so good.

Have you ever tried blending 2 or 3 colours from inside the eye to out (ie, from your nose ridge towards your ear)? That might be fun to try...

Thanks! Yeah I recently invested in lights and background (since I already have camera and lenses) for a home studio. :D They are so worth it for creators like me cos I can use it for my art as well.

I don't think I tried that one yet. Maybe the most I have was to blend 2 colors cos I mostly have colors that are more into a natural color and not more on the artistic side if you know what I mean. But maybe I can do that with the limited colors I have at the moment. :D

Such a great investment... for so many things, lighting is absolutely everything.
