RE: IRL Tone Sizzle

in Filmmakers3 years ago (edited)

Thanks, Ash! Yeah. That was the idea behind doing this sizzle. I was going to pursue IRL as my my next project until I wrote The Tear, which has become my focus. The sizzle hasn't quite had the effect I wanted, but I also haven't been pursuing it aggressively. I keep trying to get my manager to help me package it, but I don't think he has a clear path towards funding for something that is controversial. I actually just resent him the sizzle as a reminder! :)

I really enjoyed Jon's book and always wanted him to lead the sizzle, even if it is a bit on the nose. He's just so disarming that it leads to great contrast with what is to follow. The following montage really makes your eyes grow. I keep forgetting how bad those few years were - and how things in many respects have gotten worse - and it's a good reminder.

Tone sizzles are semi-common. They really help convey a vision, but not necessarily increase your chances of success. It's just a lot faster than reading a whole script. Looking forward to sharing The Tear crowdfund video / sizzle. Hopefully THAT one has the desired effect.

What is your story about?
