Love is unconditional and priceless; if we fall in love, we get ready for the next.
Do you believe that you can fall in love with someone that is your total opposite?
My answer is definitely yes!
I've been in a relationship with my opposite boyfriend for almost ten years.
It is the best and most functioning relationship I have with someone who is the opposite of me. We have a lot of differences in life and nothing in common for so many things. Though it is always very challenging, I can say that it works the best for me throughout the year.
But of course, we cannot deny that we clashed so many times, and we feel like giving up, but we work it out even more.
Here are some reasons why we have made this so far:
We tend to balance each other out.
I am loud and outspoken with my feelings, and I will say all the things I want. My boyfriend is a quiet person who cannot even tell out what he feels. He will never fight back, and he will never say a single word until such time that I get tired and finally stop talking. Knowing me like that, he knows how to keep me calm by not fighting back with every word I say.
While getting angry and heated up by the situation, he is calm. The argument will turn into a conversation rather than a blown-out fight by being rational. While I have some freaking arguments with him, he will rationally communicate with me.
We bring new things into each other lives.
I feel like being wrapped in a box when we fell in love. Because of not being comfortable in each set of our own life, we tend to cope and try each other things like a new experience. We don't exactly share the same hobbies.
For the past years of being together, we have developed new ways to share interests in our relationship. We can assimilate things we like separately into new things to love together.
Being with my total opposite, I can bring such incredible things into his world, and he will do the same to me. He showed me more interesting stuff than anyone that I've ever known. Being so long in a relationship, we finally find ways to discover and explore new things we enjoy together.
We never let each other get bored.
My boyfriend has a great sense of humor. He shows me different ways to get happy and be productive every day. While I'm the one who gets easily pissed off about things and situations, he will be the one who will cheer me up and make me happy on my gloomy days.
I am so busy with my work all the time, and being so serious with so many aspects, he will be there for me to ensure that I am comfortable and enjoying our time together.
Of course, being with him most of the time, I also learned to have some sense of humor that helps me cheer him up when he is not feeling right.
We open ourselves to more discovering new parts.
Discovering some new parts about each other that we haven't seen before makes the best journey for us as a couple.
When things and parts are uncovered by each other, we tend to love each other more, and we care to appreciate each other more than before.
We have a great support system for each other.
**We are always the best cheerleader in our lives. When everything falls apart, and when we come to situations like giving up, we make sure that we have each other's back. Though there are things we cannot control, we keep each other strong to face all the struggles that come our way. We never let any of us feel alone facing all the difficulties in life. We support each other till the end.
Being total opposites might mean having different perspective. You need to make sure that you listen and focus more on winning over the situations.
You need to set boundaries for each other to make things work out things and grow up individually. Never be manipulative and controlling because that is crucial and toxic in a relationship.
Communication is a must, and being appreciative is needed.
Over the years, we learn how to love our differences. We accept and adjust to each other preferences to have a better understanding.
Here are things that make us stronger than ever despite all the opposite things that we have. Hoping for more years to come, and God’s will, we will make it to the altar.
