Bitcoin is not hard money. It has no intrinsic value, and the only reason it is valuable right now are because people think that other people will find it to be useful in the future. I do believe Bitcoin can become a better form of digital currency, but currently there aren't enough safeguards in place for me to trust putting my store credit into this system without an intermediary like PayPal or CoinBase acting as middleman between myself and some random guy on eBay who wants $100 worth of BTC so he can buy Bitcoins from another person using Paypal…
