Hello!
For obvious reasons, I won't give informations about this location. Confidentiality allows preservation of places like this.
Surprisingly my buddy Flavien had never explore this quarry, even if he lives only a couple of miles away from it. Location was unreachable during years because it was closed. We heard it was reopened last winter but we chose to wait to visit it because of the bats : they hibernate in quarries and you can kill them if you wake them up during this period.
There were a lot of changes since my last visit in...january 2018! First of all we had to find a new way to enter it as the former access were closed. It took us a couple of hours. And then, we got a bit lost when we entered because the first galleries have been blocked. But, step by step, I found my bearings and we started the exploration.
We made a first stop in an area I like to make a one-hour photoshooting session :
My idea here was to highlight the stone with simple lighting. As you can see, there are mushroom bags on the floor, a testimony of the last professional use of the place (this is where we grow shitake guys).
After that, we packed our gear and made a 3-hours walk trip in this incredible part of the quarry. Unfortunately, the best part wasn't reachable at all, despite our many efforts to enter.
After that, it took us an hour to go back to the entrance, located at the junction of the two quarries of the location. Then, we entered the other side using a hidden and very narrow passage. At that point, we were fully convered with mud. But we were very happy to reach this spot :
We were not able to take pictures at the same time here so I started and Flavien took his turn half an hour later.
After that, we walked during a couple of hours to explore. Unfortunately, Flavien had a tight schedule so we were not able to visit all of it. But we promised ourselves to go back there as soon as possible (next spring, because of the bats) and focus on that part.

Lightpainting is a photographic technique in which exposures are made by moving a hand-held light source while taking a long exposure photograph, either to illuminate a subject or to shine a point of light directly at the camera, or by moving the camera itself during exposure. Nothing is added or removed in post processing.
