The other day I visited the original source – the place where the love for dugouts began. This is the bank of the Sodima River within the city of Vologda, between the Remselmash and 3-4-m microdistricts. In 2020, I first discovered them on a map, and then captured them at night, with preliminary exploration during the day.
It was like the first sex: it's not clear what to do with it, but it's fun.
Then I was shocked by the massive scale of these structures, and I got all the variety of types at once: from ground-based triangular wooden sheds above the cellars, to the most real dugouts dug into the slope!
Then I found out that the entire riverbank was once densely "populated" with dugouts. And this time I was convinced that there were even more of them!
But I captured exactly what I missed – a vegetable storage bush in one of the places. Then I simply did not get there, because I was already oversaturated.
I have to come here again in the spring to explore the abandoned dugouts that I have not seen yet. Everything is under the snow now.
The saddest thing is that many dugouts are no longer there. They disappear...
If a photo is a story in general right after pressing the button, then capturing what goes into the past, I make history doubly.
It's good that there is still a place near the house where you can feel the earthy atmosphere.
Triangular houses and mounds with a door and a chimney are always nearby!
Well, we have to look for new sensations further and further and it is more difficult. The more valuable they are.
