Sementsy is the unofficial name of the historical district of St. Petersburg. The name comes from the settlement, which lodged here the Life Guards of the Semyonovsky Regiment.
The structure of Sementsy includes six streets named after the cities of the Moscow province: Ruzovskaya, Mozhaiskaya, Vereiskaya, Podolskaya, Serpukhovskaya and Bronnitsky. Street names are proposed to be memorized with the help of the phrase: Is it possible to believe the empty words of a ballerina?
In February 1923 here, on Mozhayskaya 38, the famous Petrograd raider Lenka Panteleev was ambushed and killed. Graffiti in the courtyard of Bronnitsky 21-27 reminds of the guardsmen.
