Earlier this year I visited Laitse town in Estonia of which I made a post not so long ago. There is also an abandoned building that was once used as a radio station. The building itself was built in 1949 and has been abandoned since 1998 since Estonia at the time didn't have money to spare to keep this radio station up and running.
The place is not closed or fenced off or anything, you can just walk right in and that's what we did.
The path leading to the building is pretty nice, those trees almost look like someone is caring for them.
The front of the building.
We walked straight in from the main door on the first floor, not much there besides some crap and old couch. Of course, I didn't have any expectations to really find anything inside. If the place is easily accessible then it's looted clean from everything of value and what isn't of value is smashed.
The staircase leading up to the second floor.
The second room upstairs was also spacious with some dangerous small holes in the floor that are not visible in the photo but these were big enough for your foot so got to watch our steps.
What I did find there was a piano, of course, smashed up good. I would love to know the story of it. Is it there since the radio station times and if so then why is it left behind?
Peeking outside from the door, I wonder if this ledge was meant for walking. Either way, there are no railings, and have to be careful to not fall down.
This building had two sides connected by a hallway with glass walls. Of course, most of the glass has been smashed. It would be quite weird if it wasn't.
Just some more empty rooms on that side of the building.
Here are a couple of views from the back side of the building.
About 100m from the building I found a small mound with a thick concrete platform on it. What was it used for or is there something buried inside the mound and covered with concrete? That remains a mystery.
It was cool to explore this one but if I didn't know that it was a radio station once I wouldn't know it after the visit too because there were no clues to really indicate what it once was.
Wow, What an intriguing еxploration! It's fascinating to sее thе rеmnants of thе old radio station in Laitsе. Thе building may havе bееn abandonеd for yеars, but it still holds a cеrtain allurе with its spacious rooms and mystеrious atmosphеrе.
I sharе your curiosity about that small mound with thе concrеtе platform nеarby. It's thе kind of mystеry that makеs thеsе еxplorations еvеn morе еxciting.
And you'rе right about thе front of thе building; thosе trееs do add a touch of charm to thе surroundings. Thanks for sharing your advеnturе with us! @greddyforce
Glad you liked the post! It sure still holds some charm of its glory days.
Absolutеly buddy! It's wondеrful to sее placеs that havе rеtainеd thеir charm from thеir glory days.
Wow, Loved those long trees ;) I am sad to see this radio station in this situation, it should be renovated @greddyforce
Yeah well, countless amounts of buildings like this are found in so many places.
This place looks abandoned for years though the building look good with much space in it
I am as curious as you are to know exactly what's in the small mound, if only there was just one person remaining there to unveil the mystery to us
The front of the building is quite amazing with the trees by the sides
Its been abandoned for 25 year so yeah, no one on the site there.
Now a days as the modern era has progressed people don't like to listen to radio at all but listening to radio used to have many benefits and the way we are seeing the old emirates getting old as much as we want but those looks more beautiful.
I rarely listen to radio. In car I also connect my phone and listen music I want 😁.
Looking at this sends a cold chill down my spine as it really looks deserted.
But on the positive side, this building can be sold and renovated into a moreover with sophisticated design and interior.
It shouldn't be left to waste just like that.
I hope you took safety precautions and didn't go alone? Looks dangerous to be in this kind of place alone.
Its possible to restore but for some reason I think that no one is going to do it.
It can be dangerous to be there if not careful but I dont go to where I really shouldn't usually .
The building looks very good, I think after a while there will be a good and successful person or organization that will restore this abandoned building, or rather, give this building a second life. The place where the building is located is open, and there is an opportunity to make good parking for vehicles; this building would make an excellent holiday home for those who want to improve their health. Nearby there is, as I understand, a place for walking. As for the small hill, the entrance to the bomb shelter may be blocked. Previously, during the construction of any industrial buildings, this was a prerequisite. Thank you very much for the beautiful and informative post. The photographs are simply excellent. Good luck to you and good mood 🙏
Glad you liked it! I guess it's technically possible to restore the building but hard to find one that is willing to do it. The only thing that can be used there is the stone walls. Everything else needs to be rebuilt. It's an extremely expensive undertaking but who knows, maybe someone will take it at some point.
I think it would be convenient for me to give a little practical advice. When exploring such buildings, there should be at least two people. The second person should be 50 meters from the building, with a mobile phone and be ready to receive a call from you. This is a kind of security.
It was two of us but we were together. Hard to go exploring and one stays away 😅.
Thank you very much🙏
You're right, the walls are a really important priority in this building. I think after a certain time this facility will serve people again. Thank you very much for responding to my comment. I wish you creative success and good mood🙏
Building is so good but I think this place is so lonely. Looking so terrible. No one is living here. Night view will be so much Terrible.
That tends to be the case with abandoned buildings yeah. Well, this one will stay like this forever.
