Sometimes when you step through a door you step into Narnia, other times you step into something unexpected.

In July 1985, the power plant was designated as an historical monument. Sadly Germany started to move away from the burning of coal to the burning natural gas for power production; to convert the plant to such was totally cost prohibitive and on the 14th April 1992 the off switch was thrown and the plant taken off the grid. The following year the District Council of Plessa became the owners of the plant.

So this bit looked clean, sanitised and tarted up, I have now discovered why.

In 1998, the plant was included in a project list of the International Building Exhibition, A year later, the project idea of a commercial museum use was presented.

In 2001, the industrial museum Kraftwerk Plessa was formed. In September of the same year, refurbishment and security work began on the property, nice job with the security huh!

An interesting control room, but with a bit of huffing and puffing, pushing and pulling I found what must have been the main control room

January 2009, An over 30's Disco party in the power plant! Those crazy Germans

Crazy indeed!

So my visit here ends, what I thought was going to be a "fail" was quite the opposite.

A special thanks to Falkenservice Security for being pretty crap at their job.

A museum could be a cool use for it. That control room looks like the set of the HBO series Chernobyl lol.
So film set could be another repurpose use for the building lol
