The Forgotten City Baths - Urban Exploration on Hive
The Stadtbad Leipzig was opened in 1916. It was divided into a men's bath and a women's bath. There is a large swimming pool in each part. The picture shows the women's pool.
Das Stadtbad Leipzig wurde im Jahr 1916 eröffnet. Es war unterteilt in ein Männerbad und ein Frauenbad. In beiden Teile gibt es je ein großes Schwimmbecken. Im Bild ist das Frauenbad zu sehen.
In 2004, the Stadtbad Leipzig was closed due to construction defects. In order to stop further deterioration, the Leipziger Wasserwerke (Leipzig Waterworks) set up a sponsorship foundation. So far, the roof has been renovated and the men's swimming hall has been converted into an event venue. Some events are held there sporadically.
Im Jahr 2004 wurde das Stadtbad Leipzig aufgrund von Baumängeln geschlossen. Um den weiteren Verfall aufzuhalten wurde von den Leipziger Wasserwerken eine Förderstiftung ins Leben gerufen. Bisher wurde das Dach saniert sowie die Männerschwimmhalle zu einem Veranstaltungsort umgebaut. Sporadisch finden dort einige Veranstaltungen statt.
The actual pool in the men's swimming hall was closed. So the entire space can now be used safely for various events.
Das eigentliche Schwimmbecken in der Männerschwimmhalle wurde geschlossen. Der gesamte Raum kann jetzt also gefahrlos für verschiedene Veranstaltungen genutzt werden.
In addition to the large swimming halls, there are dozens of small bathrooms with bathtubs or showers in the building. This was the main purpose of the municipal baths when they were built. At that time, people usually did not have a bathroom in their flats.
Neben den großen Schwimmhallen gibt es im Gebäude dutzende kleine Bäder mit Badewannen oder Duschen. Das war bei der Errichtung der Hauptzweck des Stadtbades. Damals hatte die Menschen meist kein Bad in ihren Wohnungen.
The most beautiful area of the city baths is certainly the ladies' sauna, which is in Moorish style with columns and numerous ornaments.
Der schönste Bereich des Stadtbads ist sicher die Damen Sauna welche im maurischen Stil mit Säulen und zahlreichen Verzierungen.
