Greetings, Fellow Street Crawlers By Sunrise!
Coming in with a photo round from a small town in the mountains that have woods in their name. Of that later. Today, I am sharing my first scouting uphill on the first morning of exploration of previously unfamiliar places.
Climbing up, gaining higher ground, I went into the sunny part before any other part of Streltcha had sun upon it. And turning around a corner, I found the church which...was hard to miss, anyway. I already shared a glimpse upon the same structure...about two weeks ago when I was actually there, but it was an evening photo session with the blue skies turning darker.
See Not Quite Catching Blue Hour.
But...in daylight here...
To the right...the century old style house of somebody recognizable...
...And having gained enough ground, now descending towards it...
The front entrance to the yard which is at the very corner itself. Nice one.
Coming closer...
Then...
...Looking down the street. Get it? Down.
Turning left again and walking around the upper side of the church yard, I come to an abandoned building, one of many in town, but this one with its front door (or is it the front?) opening on the yard itself.
Accommodations for the clergy are seen in the bottom of that photograph, newly built ones.
Circling clockwise, I come around other abandoned structures, which shall be the topic of another story, then around another corner and beneath a tall stony fence again, looking at the height of the thing in its full...thing...I mean...height...tallness...
...and I chose to take a shot at the...wait for it...skyline. (An inside family joke. Because my grandmother may have or may have not used the term skyline a lot. Not you're an insider. A member of the family. You can kiss the ring.)
So I have only part of the cut-out letters in view. The side plates say...
A Memorial Temple
Holy Archangel Michael
And the main one is a list of local fallen war heroes and rebellion heroes. But I've got only a part of tit here, and it's also kind of too far for us to read more.
On the corner opposite from the one that I first approached the site from, there be an almost working...eh...ancient water dispenser machine.
Nice idea, though.
After all, it's what the town could be famous for. Its underground wealth of hot mineral water and the springs that bring it to the surface and allow for spa stuff.
They say the ground is warm enough so that snow never lingers for too long around here. Interesting. More to explore. Some other time...
Peace!
Yours,
Manol
