Hello guys. Hope you all are well. This is my first post in this community and I am very nervous and excited. I will share with you today an ancient pond which has now dried up. I went with my friends for a visit to Hiran Minar which is in Sheikhupura and going back home we saw in Jandiala Sher Khan this ancient pond and decided to visit it.
This pond was built during the Mughal era for bathing and washing clothes. The water in this river came through a canal and that canal is still there and the way through which the water had flows now that way colsed and a school has been built above. It had an entrance on one side and an outdoor on the other side and stairs were built all around to get down into it and it is a very ancient pond.
This pond is many hundred years old and its stairs were quite big but small bricks were used to make the stairs and those small bricks are quite strong and still intact. This pond is about 8 big stairs deep.
The way through which the water entered in the pond is beautifully designed and small materials are used to make it durable. A dome was also built inside where my friend is standing. The dome is also made with small bricks which gives a very sophisticated and an ancient vibe.
I think everyone feels themselves in the past while looking at this ancient pond because it is so intricately built. Now this pond has dried up and green grass has grown in it and people leave their cattle to graze in it.
I captured every pool wall that was designed because I love to capture and feel places like that. You can see in the picture below that the walls are made of small materials and even after many years they still haven't come off the top of the brick.
A minaret was also built on one side of the pond which increased to the beauty of the pond. You will find many such minarets in Punjab and all these minarets were built during the Mughal era. The pond had quite beautiful designs made with bricks and they look very ancient.
I find this pumpkin very elegant as it is made very sophisticated. It's still standing after many years and that's pretty amazing. This beautiful carving shows the intelligence and hard work of the ancient people. There were not sign of water and it's indeed hard to understand that there were a pond in that place.

It is really hard to believe that there was a pond of water in this place and the reason why it has dried up is because the water entrance has been blocked. I read the history of this location with the help of Google Maps and found that it is a very old pond built in ancient times.
I can't believe it is more 100 years old. It looks so strong!
