I’m reluctant to even give out even the name of this company never mind the location for the reasons mentioned below.
Given what happened recently at the Wild Boar Hotel, and it turning into a celebrity location for vandals, I think we have all gotten a little more tight-lipped.
Anyone within the Facebook Urbex scene will know exactly what I mean, but for the HIVE bloggers, this will be new information, hence the image of 'Jason' and his buddies spraying fire extinguishers and swinging on chandeliers in a once beautiful location.
I will say it has been covered before and it’s a massive location. We only did part of it and more may be accessible depending on your agility levels.
The pessimist in me was saying this is not looking promising while walking around the grounds of this 'I am not saying', ex-business.
Some parts were looking inaccessible but inside through these out-of-focus bars, I could see all kinds of goodies.
It was a case of go for broke and after a little climbing in which I managed to rip my jeans and attain a few grazes, cuts, and blood to my leg we were inside.
Where to go now? there were at least a couple of possible entrances points, and so we made our way to one of the less obvious ones.
A little more climbing (and not dropping through this 12 foot broken window, I ain’t that crazy) got us safely inside one part of one of the buildings.
This corridor was quite wet and sodden. Where the water was coming from, I don't know.
Had a washing machine leaked?
The vending machine didn’t work, even the one on the right that looks like it should. I could have used a coffee.
The first aid cupboard, or was it?
CRT monitors get no respect these days; they would have been expensive once.
I was conscious of nosey neighbours, but saw little in the way of anyone. Maybe they don't care or our stealth skills had increased.
That squidgy stuff on the ground is some kind of paint, and guess who walked in it.
You couldn’t get through this door, but sometimes there’s a different route.
It was getting more interesting the further we climbed the stairs. They had left quite a bit behind.
That’s a 240Mb SCSI HDD, not much storage on that, and how old is it?
Laser printers get no love here either.
The Secret Laborotory
It's not often I come across something like this. It was quite wrecked, with panes of glass put through but the amount of equipment left was crazy.
Having never worked in a laboratory I have no clue what all this stuff is for.
If anyone has any ideas, then please chip in.
The room at the end had the most. I mean it was crammed with gear, probably expensive gear.
I had to pixelate some of the names from papers and other things I photographed.
If you are reading this and know where it is, then please don't give the location away in the comments. Otherwise, we will have another Wild Boar on our hands and many of you know what happened there.
This corridor took us to another building but it was jammed.
This old business has many a section to look in, and from the yard, we could see other possible places to sneak in.
Climbing up the tower would have yielded a decent shot, but my vertigo won't let me do that anymore.
It was tempting to stay but we had many other places on the agenda that day.
As we had spent the best part of an hour here, I felt it wise to move on. I don’t think any alarms had been raised but I don’t like overstaying anywhere.
As we were walking back up the road, two blokes and a large wobbling young woman passed us. They did look like explorers with cameras and gear, but we didn't say anything.
I think she may have a little problem getting to where we were. Being skinny, young and fit helps a lot. Some parts of that 'dream style' are sadly unattainable to me.

Wow. Might be your best yet. There's some serious stuff in that laboratory. I mean serious.
I believe that set up that looks like stainless steel pancake cookers are for stiring liquids. Put an inert metal pellet in the beaker and the magnet arm underneath moves it around while heat is applied.
There is an industrial grade centrifuge. The pressure gauges with the big valve handle won top would make me nervous. Equalizing pressure can be a really tricky thing....
Really cool. My lips are sealed simply because I have no idea....
Thanks for the info @bigtom13, I wanted to be a Lab Technician when I left school, but sadly it was Kwiksave and it's horrors that awaited me. I too would have recognized this stuff... maybe!
That looks very similar to my dad's old lab. Once I saw the Instron tester, I started paying a little more attention. He works with FiberGlass when it was first coming out. (First Fiberglass Baseball bat, Hockey Stick, Canoe, Bathtub, LightHouse, BobSled, etc etc).
The Instron is used to stress test by pulling or pushing at crazy strengths to determine how the object under test stretches/shatters. You usually adhere strain gauges to the object to track any changes from it's original form while tracking how much strain the Instron is putting on it. Depending on the types or gauges, you'd need a variety of electrical units to power them.
For the Sharps container, he used to use syringes to inject resins into the test pieces for various tests. To properly dispose of them, he had to put the spend needles in the sharps containers.
Many times, he needed to testify at courts about his theories on how a (insert something made of fibreglass) failed. For instance, McDonanlds used to use Fiberglass tanks to hold the catalyst to make their soft serve congeal (just because it would break down metal - similar to CocaCola).
That setup looks very similar to the setup we had in our basement, but a much larger scale.
My guess is that companies would send them samples to test and provide assurances that the sample could survive certain stresses.
This was a very cool post for me. Brought back a lot of great memories.
Good that you liked it, many times these posts can stir old memories that are shut away and otherwise lost. It makes a change from the usual kind of wrecks that I visit.
You have to wonder how quickly these places get shut down. If they needed money they could have sold a lot of that equipment. Interesting stuff. You need some extra tough exploring trousers with some protecting for your vitals.
You have to wonder why they leave all the gear behind, according to @bigtom13 there's some serious stuff in there.
The jeans, well I'll get them patched up, they can be re-used for Urbex. I have sustained a few injuries in my last few outings, the risks are getting bigger.
This sprung to mind
@slobberchops Awesome photos, Awesome post. Thanks.
That is a lot of equipment in a, what looks like, relatively useful state. And I agree, it is probably expensive.
Awww, look at this cute little guy 😌
Wow, that is pretty immense! That washing machine looks like it is still in really good condition. I am surprised that no one has tried to take off with it. In the US it would have been claimed by the scappers a long time ago. They take anything that isn't bolted down to try and get a few pennies from the metal.
Yes, the very reason I won't tell anyone where this is.., unless I can completely trust them.
that's a blooming good find @slobberchops, .. I wish I could have been there.
You would have loved it, even at the cost of a pair of jeans.
What a bloody super find, that’s one often best industrial sites I’ve seen ( not seen it anywhere else). Fantastic
Thanks, it is out there but is a little bit off the beaten track, maybe that has saved it from the mass tourists. There's a lot of stuff in there, and a lot more that we didn't see. If it wasn't so far away, we may consider a re-visit.
Cool
What a cracking looking place! I love rabbit warrens as they remind me of the first place I worked; a rubber factory.
I have worked in a couple of places I could describe as 'rabbit warrens'. It was long ago and is relegated to older buildings like these with character.
Wowsers, quite a find that one and that equipment did look expensive.
It's such a shame that scummy folk and to go in these places and trash them or be disrespectful. No wonder the locations are best kept hidden
Yeah, this was quite recent and the uproar from the community was huge and unanimous. I can't imagine the hate mail he got.
WOW..you really do get into some spooky , creepy places it makes you wonder what really when on in them places very interesting you survived another one 🙀
It gets very addictive, I'm out in the next 40 minutes doing a load more!
I am in Thailand at the moment i must see what spooky abandon places i can find here.
Tread carefully and stay safe 👍
Wow, that's a good exploration of the lab. Though I do not understand much of these equipment's but they really look interesting.
Me neither! don't have a clue what this gear is for, but it looks heavyweight!
