It was a moonless night, and the forest was alive with the sounds of the night creatures. A small group of travelers had lost their way and stumbled upon a clearing in the woods. They set up camp, hoping to find their way out in the morning. But as they huddled around the campfire, they noticed that the forest had grown eerily silent.
Suddenly, they heard a strange noise coming from the bushes. They turned to see a figure emerging from the shadows, its eyes glowing with an otherworldly light. The figure was unlike anything they had ever seen before, with skin as black as night and long, sharp claws.
The travelers tried to run, but the monster was too fast. It attacked them one by one, until only one remained. The survivor was paralyzed with fear, and as the monster closed in for the kill, a voice echoed in their mind.
"Do not fear me, mortal. I am the keeper of this forest, and I have come to offer you a choice. You can either leave this place and never return, or you can stay and become my servant, helping me protect this land from those who would seek to destroy it."
The survivor chose to stay, and the monster transformed into a beautiful creature, revealing its true form. The survivor became the new keeper of the forest, and they worked together to protect it from all who would do it harm.
But every full moon, the keeper would turn into the monster, a reminder of the darkness that lurked within the forest. And for many years, the keeper would scare off any travelers who stumbled upon the clearing, keeping the secret of the monster safe from the outside world.
Years passed, and the story of the monster in the forest became just a legend. But on quiet nights, when the wind blows just right, the travelers who dare to venture into the woods can still hear the keeper's voice, warning them to turn back before it's too late.
