Greetings fellow Splinterlandians. There's been quite a lot of debate going on related to the previous poll. I'm making this follow up poll to ensure that whatever proposal we ultimately put forward reflects the will of the DAO to the best extent that these polls can. I'm not going to tell anyone how to vote, but I do think there are some critical things that need to be understood on this topic to help voters make an informed decision:
If we raise the floor price for SPS rentals, this would essentially be asking the team and third party bots to honor the price floor that the DAO is asking them to set. Whether or not this is enforceable is questionable as anyone could still work out over the counter deals (peer to peer) for delegations and avoid the market entirely.
The suggestion that I received from the team when soliciting feedback on this idea was that we should have a developer build out the functionality for a maker-taker style bid system within the validator software once it launches. I personally think a maker-taker style market for the rentals is the ideal solution, but I can't say if the juice is worth the squeeze or how complex it would be to develop, which brings us to the next point:
Third party developers have more or less already created a solution of sorts to this problem via automation. It's not ideal, but it's currently the only way to allow a person that wants to rent their SPS out to set a price limit instead of having to fill the 0.001 bids that are the current minimum on the site.
One final thing to note, if we put forth a proposal to halt SPS rentals until the feature can be developed further, what this means is that we'd essentially have to turn off the delegation feature entirely for the token. Validators are currently in closed testing and it's too late to make major feature changes without delaying the January launch target. Ultimately it's up to the DAO to decide if this issue is worth a potential delay or not.
My tuppence worth:
Owning sps should be stimulated, which would plead for stopping the delegation of sps, but the fact is that we’ll lose a lot of players if we do so. That’s the reason I’m voting to keep delegations, but make them expensive enough for players to consider owning instead.
Hoi there. Do we hacve a lot of players using delegated sps? What size of an issue is it?
A TCG implies ownership and on that basis the renting, as opposed to owning, of anything seems problematic...

We need to stop circumventing the need to own SPS. Kill rentals!
that changes my vote to raising the floor instead :)
