Oh thank you for asking about polls but actually I have a question and that is, why tf are polls so important to people!? "we've got polls on threads now!!!", "we're working on getting polls on peakd", "we have polls on twitter". Who fucking cares!?

I cannot for the life of me understand what problem a poll solves and why any developer would spend time and resources building one into a platform like Hive.

LOL, this poll created on the PeakD polls page, doesn't even seem to be loading at all! Spam!
Sorry for this, there were recent changes in the technology that polls rely on. Fixed now so your poll is loading.
If you have ideas for how we could make polls more useful or beneficial to the community, that would be great. Or ideas for polls you'd like to run or see others run.
I think if you look at the polls page, you'll see its some ridiculous stuff.
Maybe being decentralized or whatever, that is all allowed and can't be censored.
I dunno, maybe sort by poll creator stake? It's less likely whales would make spammy polls like we see so many of on the polls page - sort them to the bottom by default by stake of poll creator? Then you don't see them most current. hrm. I dunno, but it looks kinda ugly right now.

Hey I just peeked at my poll on the polls page and is says account age 30 days on the filter column? My account is over 7 years old, most of my time here Ive been a witness in some capacity or on a witness team, ive built apps and networks and communities here. Hardly "30 days" so are you going by some other kind of "account age" metric? Cause that's VERY wrong if you think my account is only 30 days old...
The filter refers to what the requirements are for an account to be able to cast a vote on the poll. So when you created the poll, you set it so that an account has to be at least 30 days old in order to vote on the poll. I guess that was not clear when you were creating the poll?
Ah it was clear when I created it last week, but I forgot that existed when I viewed it yesterday :) So I took it to mean MY account on the listing page

Yup, and if you look at the "Polls" page its full of garbage. I am not a fan so far of how it's being used by the public, when it works.

I don't dislike Polls tbh. But at the end of the day they are merely a tool and what the poll is about and in many cases the content provided with it. I like polls because it sparks discussions
My beef wasn't with "polls", it was with the lengthy list of garbage on the polls page, and by garbage I mean just total ridiculousness, including my own goofy poll here. My poll is sort of here to spoof the silly ones in that pile.
There are some valid ones, but when I first pulled up the list, it was like "Black or White?" "Do you like my post?" and other nonsense questions.
I had no clue that there even was a dedicated poll page. Many of them are indeed interesting 😂
But no, a polls page seems unnecessary. This invites bad polls for the sake of visibility. Although, now I can go to bed pondering on whether water is wet
