Community: Resolutions

in Resolutionslast year (edited)

As many likely know, I run the Reflections community, which is a place for people look back at pieces of their lives and,

"reflect on life, love, death and everything between"

Hopefully over the last year it has been up, people have found some clarity their their own writings and interactions with others in the community. It might not be the most active community on Hive, but considering it is all longform, it has done pretty well.

However, while looking back is highly useful, we should also look to see what is in front of us.

New community...

Resolutions

I will lose weight
I will quit smoking
I will drink less
I will smile more
I will be grateful
I will eat better
I will work harder
I will save money
I will sleep more
I will...

Lots of wills - but is there a way?

Since we have an immutable blockchain, we talk about ownership and transparency - we might as well hold ourselves accountable. The Resolutions Community is for all those promises we make to ourselves, but rarely keep.

As with all communities, there are rules and since it is my community, the rules are fluid. Read them before posting and those who break the rules, might not even get a warning - they will just be muted. All of the rules are important, but the last one carries by far the greatest weighting.

Rules

  • Keep it in English (mostly)
  • No Plagiarism
  • No Reposts
  • No Spamming
  • Answer comments
  • Engage with others
  • Put in some effort
  • No AI content (it is plagiarism)
  • Don't be a dick

I will not be a dick.

Ideally, people will do something like write a decent post in the Reflections Community that looks at what led to the current situation, and then come into the Resolutions Community and state what you are going to change and how you are going to change it. You can be as ambitious or as reserved as you choose to be, but hopefully you will discover ways to improve your outcomes in life by writing through the reflections and planning phases, then adding practical steps into how you will accomplish each milestone.

Being systematic helps.

While new year resolutions aren't for everyone, we nearly all have some goals in life we want to achieve. It doesn't matter if it is at the end of the year, start of the year, on your birthday, your half-birthday, your dog's birthday....

Plan. Try. Reflect. Adjust plan. Try again.

What have you got to lose?

This is a cool community and I think helps to keep people a little bit honest in a way! I’m in for it man, let’s see what people can resolve to try and do. I know that I’ve got some resolutions that I would like to aspire to. I do like the concept because it’s not about looking backwards all the time but the combination of reflecting backwards and having a vision forward.

Cheers mate!

This is exactly what I want people to do with it. Reflect, but also act toward goals. I believe the process of planning forward helps us get started down the road.

What have you got to lose? Pride for the most part I guess in some? XD

Isn't pride a sin? ;D

Apparently. Also the one that will do me in x_x

This ties in perfectly with your previous post, and is just in time for the new years. It would be nice to see people make shorter resolutions of maybe a month, apart from just for the year. They can then maybe post an update to help inspire others as well.

A month is a decent time - even a quarter and monthly milestones would be useful. While we shouldn't run our lives like businesses, if we have specific goals in mind, being systematic can help us achieve them.

I want to share a post in your community too, however I think you should allow bilingual post mate ;)

In English mostly. The reason is that I would like to read them and, I am not a big fan of some of the "community spammers" that are out there, dropping posts in multiple communities, even if they aren't really relevant.

Great new community! All that remains is to find your topic for the post, but it’s not so easy when everything is perfect :)

:D

Is everything perfect?

For now yes :)

Reflections is now definitely one of my favorite communities. Resolutions shouldn't be any different.

Cheers to the new community, to the lessons of 2023, and to our future endeavors of 2024. 🍻✨

Good luck with whatever you are planning!

Thanks, man! I wish you all the best with your little list of resolutions for 2024. 🍻

LEO Power Up Day - December 15, 2023

Reflections and resolutions look like two wheels of a car.
Let's see how far the new community goes in the new year, I will be keeping an eye to jump in for sure.
Best of luck.

I am in, perfect timing I think, everyone is hoping that 2024 is going to be better.

Sounds really awesome. I am definitely going to be joining up that one. I wonder how many short posts you will get with people giving an update on their progress. Maybe you don't mind that. I guess time will tell!

I never knew you run a community on here
That’s awesome
Anyway, I’ve made my new year resolutions and I’m really promising myself to work hard and achieve my aims

This is a rather bright collaboration between the two communities. This scares me greatly due to my passion for not being accountable.
