I visited the Oslo Opera House 8 years ago on a sunny summer day (so precious there! ;)). This Norwegian National Opera and Ballet is conveniently located in the city centre, so it's a popular place for locals as well as tourists like me. Even if you don't go inside, just sitting and relaxing on the roof is an enjoyable thing to do.
Completed in 2008, the modern structure looks like a flat iceberg with inclined lines rising from the water. It blends perfectly with its natural and cultural environments. White marble from Italy was used in the construction, and glass, metal, and wood were also the main materials.
This award-winning design by Snøhetta firm invites visitors to its accessible spacious exterior, and you can have a glimpse of its indoor activities through the massive glass walls. Non-opera fans are still able to enjoy food, drinks and waterfront views from its cafes. Meanwhile, these consumers provide another source of revenue for the Opera House. All these functions make the architecture a pleasant social gathering place rather than a mere cold sculpture.
After having a look inside, I took a stroll around the striking building and also on the tilted stone-clad surface. From the top there, you can have a panoramic view of the harbour and the Oslofjord, which is really impressive. At the open space in front, there was an interesting photography exhibition about stage performance going on, as you can see from my photos.
Later in the golden hour, the architecture and the surroundings were bathed in the warm sun rays. Such beautiful serene moments! I was there alone, but now I have the chance to share with you these unforgettable scenes through my captures. I hope that you will enjoy them too! :)

Beautiful photos! I love all the negative space and the amazing light! I've never been to Scandinavia but I always imagine there will be a lot of sky (if you know what I mean) and negative space architecture like this to photograph.
This is my favourite one
Hey, long time no see! I know what you mean, and I remember I once said your heart is as big as the negative space in your video thumbnail, although that feels like a million years ago on Steem. ;) Hope you would be able to visit Scandinavia as soon as you like... such a cool region, literally too. :D
