猫王有一首歌抒情歌—— 《Can’t help falling in love》，虽然很老的一首歌，但曲调悠扬，歌词内敛，简直是百听不厌。YouTube上的两亿次播放量就足以说明问题。

前几天准备帮朋友做一个英译中的翻译工作，刚好那几天音乐播放列表里播到猫王这首，我便临时起意，给这首歌翻译了一个中文版：
Wise men say, Only fools rush in
入我相思门，知我相思苦
But I can't help falling in love with you
青青子衿，悠悠我心
Shall I stay?
欲语还休
Would it be a sin
脉脉此情谁诉
If I can't help falling in love with you?
青青子佩，悠悠我思
Like a river flows
心似西江水
Surely to the sea
东流无歇时
Darling, so it goes
生死契阔
Some things are meant to be
与子成说
Take my hand
执子之手
Take my whole life too
与子偕老
For I can't help falling in love with you
唯愿君心似我心，不负相思意
翻完之后心里美滋滋，转给旁边某位英语专八的牛人一看，人家直接来了句：你这翻译得词不达意啊。

还有另外一个跟翻译有关的趣事，大概发生在2016年春节，跟个讲英语的西人朋友讨论吃荔枝时，想给他解释「一骑红尘妃子笑，无人知是荔枝来」这一句唐诗，解释了半个小时。大概是这么说的：
There is a story, also in real history, about one of the most famous beauty in China, named Yang Yuhuan. She likes lychee very much. Her husband, the emperor of Tang Dynasty, ordered officers to transport fresh lychee from south to north China~ Used horses! That's really extravagant, but he loves to, just for her happiness, her smile.
艾玛心好累……两句话的事，说了这么多，关键是最后也不知道对方明白了这句唐诗的重点没有。
当时有个很会写诗的朋友嘲笑我半天，说我是Bank shot——信、达、雅一样都没占。
我不服气表示一定要搞个slam dunk。然后就有了以下这个「高级」的翻译版本：
「一骑红尘妃子笑，无人知是荔枝来」
「Itch henge face show, woolen cheese lychee lie.」
