I didn't like Abe. He was too right-wing and gave far too much encouragement to the wackos on that side who still want to go to war with China again and do other horrible nationalist things. That said, no one deserves to be assassinated. Being killed by a homemade shotgun is a horrible way to go. Very shocking. Japan does have a history of public assassinations, but I never would have expected Abe to be killed.
