Growing up in the city of Lagos, Nigeria, with a bit of the “Street Life” Where you don’t get to see electricity frequently and suddenly you are returning from school, everywhere sparkling bright, music blazing out from homes and shops, screams of men watching football arguing about there favorite teams from the barbershop.
In awe, you wonder if truly this is electricity. To clear your doubt you ask the kid walking down “ Bola, Light dey?(is there electricity)And she replies “Light Dey” (Yes,there is) with so much excitement, you flip your backpack over, in a flash you hurry home to watch your favorite cartoon “ Power rangers" because Light Dey!!! Lol!!!😂😂 So “light dey” is a famous Nigerian Vanacular question and answer phrase with the same words but different meaning!!!!😂😁🥰
