It's been a long, overwhelming three months and a stressful and hectic two weeks for me. I'm really glad it's all over. About 3 months ago I started looking for a place. I recently got one that isn't at all perfect but reasonable enough.
After a week of planning, fixing and arranging the place my flatmate @megpeters and I finally moved in today. We spent most part of the day, cleaning and putting things in the right place, although we still have some work to do.
In the past I promised myself not to ever have a roommate/flatmate. That was after two horrible experiences with previous roommates I've had. I've lived with a roommate who deliberately tried to harm my health(that was the last straw for me). I gave up on anything roommate related.
However, I am taking this bold step because I have so much trust in the relationship we have. Prior to finally moving in, we've had several people tell us of the cons of two friends living together. They were all valid concerns, I acknowledge more than a few of them and know they could be real problems.
Nevertheless, my friend and I know these things. We are not actively denying them but making sure that when those times come, we are well equipped to handle them. I believe just like marriage, friendship also goes through some tough times. To make it work, you need two people who are willing to make it work!
I know we understand each other enough to not let things escalate. I know whatever issues we may have will be minor and easily resolvable. I won't say I thought hard before I decided I was comfortable living with her. It's like those marriages where you just know they are the one, despite hard times.
If there's ever a thing like the perfect flatmate, I know I have myself one of those and it's going to be pure bliss (despite hard times). Our friendship is precious to me and I believe we can make this work without ruining our friendship.
Thanks for stopping by ❤️
