The African continent receives the most food and foreign aid in the world. Africa is blessed with vast natural resources and arable land. Nigeria is the 8th country with the most arable land according to the World Bank. Despite this vast wealth, it has yet to pull the Continent out of extreme poverty. Why is this so?
There is some hope for East African countries. Rwanda is becoming the Singapore of Africa
Rwanda and Burundi is an interesting case study. They have similar demographics and history of French colonization. The Hutu majority, who are Bantu, control the country of Burundi. It is the poorest country in the world. While the Tutsi who are Nilotic people run the country of Rwanda.A major issue that is holding the African Continent back is the heterogeneous nature of the majority of countries that inhabit within. Many countries are like Chad or Mali. A country with no ethnic majority and a variety of different languages spoken. This has been blamed on Europeans because of the drawing of borders during the colonial period. However, with over 3,000 different ethnic groups in Africa, it was impractical to create homogenous ethnostates for all of them. Africa being the most genetically and linguistically diverse Continent makes achieving an ethnogenesis and eventually homogeneity a very difficult task.
In conclusion, extreme poverty isn't written in stone for everyone on the Continent. Homogenous nations like Botswana, others run by the high IQ ethnic group like Rwanda, or countries with a Non-Black majority (Mauritius, North Africa) will be the only countries that will have any type of sustainability on the continent. For the majority of the continent, it will be mired in poverty. Unless you can change the mating patterns and family structure as well as create an ethnogenesis to reduce the diversity on the continent. I don't see much hope for most of them.
