Recently, the term 'Abuse' has been in the spotlight. As a matter of fact, thousands of Nigerian's home and abroad have taken to different social media platforms to express themselves on the issue on ground. Therefore, it has become a necessity that we use a time like this to ensure that we educate the general public on what Abuse really is. And how to know when someone has been abused and what to do when abused.
The term 'Abuse' can be broken down into different meanings. But according to this context, Abuse can mean
Any action or behavior that intentionally harms or injures another person.
Abuse occurs in many forms, ranging from disrespect, to causing physical or mental pain, to sexual abuse. However, one common type of Abuse which is quite common in our society is 'Domestic Abuse' also known as 'Domestic violence'. Domestic Violence refers to a form of abuse of violence that is committed within the victim's intimate circle. Such as a persons wife, husband, boyfriend or girlfriend.
One really scary thing about domestic violence is that it is quite common. Anybody can be a victim, it doesn't matter your age, socioeconomic class or religious believes anyone can be a victim.
I mean when we look at our neighborhoods we see cases of domestic violence springing up every day. Husband's go as far as beating and even end up killing their wife's, wife's stabbing or killing the husband. Dating couples are not left too.
While there has been numerous campaigns encouraging people to leave toxic relationships, but it seems like all is falling on deaf ears as people continue to stay in toxic relationships because of the monetary aspect or religious belief. There are cases when young women go into a relationship with someone who they're not even compatible with, because of monetary gain and this person might be a monster in sheep clothing.
Also i think in this part of the world where people regard religion as a big part of the lives, i think it is only proper that religious leaders ensure that they teach people that marriage is not supposed to be a do or die affair.
Furthermore parent should learn to encourage there children to leave any relationship that is not working out too.

Sadly, what we get is religious leaders encouraging victims to persevere. A lot of these religious leaders aren't doing so great in their relationships in the first place 🤷♀️
Nice entry man
