You know I've come to understand that the music of these days can't be compared to the music of the 90's.
Think through what I just wrote. Reminisce and you'll see that I am not telling a lie, not even a bit.
Yesterday I was listening to a local radio station on transit playing songs of the 90s from big stars like Onyeka Owenu, Lucky Dube, Sir Victor Uwaifo, Whitney Houston and I realized that their music always has information to pass to the public even if it is a love song. It always has something to tell. It somehow makes you love the song. They can't be compared to songs of these days.
Though the music might have evolved with time. Like the sounds and the beats to the crystal clear videos. I feel like they still can't be compared to the music of the 1990s.

To me music is all about lyrics, music should touch our daily life, music should teach,Music should tell a story. Music shouldn't just entertain it should be life Intertwined with melodies. And for me the 90s do it for me.
The present music these days talks more about sex, drugs, crime. Which is already much in our society today. Then how do we tend to curtail these ills when our musicians sing off and see it as a norm. Aren't they supposed to be role models to our kids. Remember our kids are watching and as it is kids these days are fast learners. Remember kids learn more from what they see us doing, that helps to shape their life. Now it makes you wonder if they are singing to help the society or just to make money, no wonder once you tell someone you want to be a musician he/she will start looking at you as a guy on the road to destruction.
I can go on and on with examples of songs like that but I have to end it here.
'Music is all about lyrics',thisss!
Where's the lie? 'Modern' music is fastly becoming a menace and a much diservice to the younger generation. To think that music has a way of melting into one's soul and clinging to the subconscious,it should given more supervision.
You're absolutely correct. But unfortunately what we wish for doesn't seem possible.
