NONSO LEARNS TO DRIVE...

Started my driving classes two days ago. It's been good so far. Got to move a vehicle for an hour straight without stopping (for the first time). Now I feel I can drive on the highway.

Okay, that would be me overstepping. I can barely go 20km/hour. Hopefully, by the end of my driving class (which is in 7 days), I should be able to move around comfortably.

About the driving lessons, I don't think I am getting my money's worth. The first day was quite insightful, I got to do a lot of driving. Yesterday I spent barely 30mins behind the wheel. I wasn't satisfied. There is no way I am spending 20,000 naira just to drive around for 30 minutes.

After today's listen I will make up my mind on whether I want to continue or not. Fortunately (and unfortunately) we live in a lawless country, so getting a learner's permit isn't necessary. However, I want to make sure I am not endangering anyone by being on the road.

So, if I am to discontinue (continue), I will always have an expert with me in the car anytime I am driving for the next 2-3months; find a safe space to practise in my neighbourhood.

Most people say driving isn't difficult, nevertheless, I don't want to be one of those silly drivers on the road that endanger other motorists. So I will learn all I can, on and offline.

Car issue

No one told me owning a vehicle will be this difficult. I am already stressed out by the plethora of things I need to do/fix.

First, I needed to change the radiator from a single cell to a double cell so it can better manage the car's temperature. Afterwards, I had to do some bodywork.

Yesterday, we discovered that one of the legs of the car has issues, mainly because the road here is horrible with many potholes. So I will have to fix that.

I can't wait for all my documents to be ready so I can leave here. Since I came to Lagos I have been stressed by one thing or another. I don't like it here at all.

I miss my very predictable and supposedly boring life. Am I becoming rigid? They say things like this come with age. I am still young (I suppose) but these days I resist change.

Speaking of change. A lot is happening here on hive lately and I can't pay attention to most of it because I am occupied with offline activities. That's another source of headache for me.

Just one more week and it will be over. I can't wait.

Now I feel I can drive on the highway.

I feel this way too but somebody will die 😅

Lol too young to die...i know I will scream like a little boy if a truck comes charging towards me

Waiting for your week to be over o. Movie reviews are waiting 😄. You'll get a hang of it soon. You already are

I know, we got a lot of work to do. Thanks for being patient

You even had the opportunity to drive, in my driving school at the time, I was in the classroom and using driving game on the computer to learn for over a week... It was annoying and frustrating..and it was just a 2 week class...

Lol, I will lose my mind if that were my case. It is not that difficult really--driving I mean, esp automatic cars. I am learning fast. I just need to know road signs which I don't think they will cover.

The best option for me was to get a friend to teach me and in less than a week I was already on the road.. These driving school barely teach enough

Haha, I'm glad to see that you're fast becoming a pro driver like the likes of vin diesel.

It takes time and you're already on your way. This country no get joy o, everything na just scam. If you feel you're not getting your money's worth then don't hesitate, find a more efficient way around, you're way too smart.

Cars wouldn't be that stressful if we had good roads, but then, we don't, so it's more spending..
Lol, it's normal to be grumpy sometimes.hehe

Omo! The road thing is the major cause of car problems in this part. I go just manage my baby jeje

You drove for an hour without stopping?
So you drove over every intersection and stop signs? Sounds dangerous :D

Lol with my instructor beside me. I did two hours today 🤡 he said I am a natural 🤭

If he really said that, he is a terrible instructor.
Their job is to make you cautious, not to make you confident.

Driving is supposed to be easy but the first day I tried,I hit a pole. Not the best experience anyway

It's easier to drive on the highway than in the city

Your area seems quiet, makes it much easier to drive. I haven't driven in 10 years. USA has shit public transportation but tokyo trains and buses take you anywhere

The transport system here is also a big mess and expensive, so having a car is a must. I will certainly love to live in a city were I don't need to drive.

lol I can imagine. Sorry for complaining about the US when I'm sure it's worse there. But I think if you go to Asia first you will be shocked at how far behind the US is in public transportation. I think development just stopped in the 60s and 70s

Lol here development has barely started. Everything is just moving hazardous without any form of structure or plan. It is chaotic, to say the least. Probably going to write about commuting in my city.

Congrats chief..

Nice one Bro... This is a good move.

Driving is a skill that always comes in handy and I must say that you already look confident behind those wheels.

I still have some stuff on my bucket list so, driving would have to wait for a while. Hehe.

Nice one bro. It will be over before you know it. Most importantly learn all you need to learn so you don't drive me into a pole. Thank you very much

Welcome to the club brother. This made me recall when I decided to pick up driving, although I didn't go to a driving school, I was taught by an older friend. One thing I got tired of was having to go through all the morning routine checks😩.

I wish I could also overcome my fear and learn how to drive

There is nothing to fear dear. Give it a try...

I will one of these days

It's quite unfortunate that most companies in Nigeria makes promises that they can't keep.
It could be so painful paying for a value you can't get in return, I feel your pain.
But you are learning fast tho, for you to have driven for an hour stretch.
Meanwhile owning a vehicle is another bunch of responsibility added to your normal responsibility. So you should be ready for more.

Best regards
