It has been nine long days since we Nigerian celebrated her independence making her 62.
This article is mainly to cover some particular prospect which has been aforementioned before now.
Nigeria gained independence from the British empire in 1960, initially adopting a British form of government with Abubakar Tafawa Balewa as the first Nigerian head of government (prime minister). The country men had a population of over 45 million people. Now Nigeria is @62 some honoured men whose labour led to their independence.
On this day,in 1960, Nigeria was conceived as it officially gained independence from the British colonial masters. A lot of things have changed in 60 years, especially regarding the political landscape what can never be forgotten however, is the labour of our heroes who made Nigeria's independence possible starting from Tafawa Balewa, Nigeria's first prime minister, to Nnamadi Azikiwe, the country's first elected president these individuals made the fight for Nigeria's independence their personal struggle like always,we remember them on this day.
As for Ahmadu Bello,he was the first and only premier of the northern region who ruled from 1954-1960. As the leader of the northern people's congress (NPC), he led the party to a majority victory in the pre-independence parliamentary elections of 1959. As the leader of Sokoto,he was a formidable force behind the throne and was considered one of the most powerful men in Nigeria.
The historical 1959 general election which effectively ushered in Nigeria's independence in 1960 saw an alliance between the (NPC) under Bello forged an alliance with the national council of Nigeria and Cameroons (NCNC) under the leadership of Nnamadi Azikiwe,which resulted in Nigeria's first indigenous federal government. Some other Nigeria great leaders like Nnamadi Azikiwe, Obafemi Awolowo, Herbert Macaulay, Anthony Errahony the ABA women riot, Funminlayo Ransome Kuti, Jaja of Odobo, Margaret Ekpo and some other great leaders.

Independence day is an an official national public holiday in Nigeria, this is the national day in Nigeria and is always celebrated on October, 1st. It marks Nigeria proclamation of independence from British rule. On 1st October, Nigeria was granted full independence from great British protectorate in 1960. The period of British rule lasted until 1960 when an independence movement led to the country being granted independence.Not forgetting that Nigeria became a republican on the Year 1963.
The current president (President Muhammadu Buhari) will plea for all Nigeria's on this day(October 1st of every year).
