Hello everyone, I hope you all are well? My country people too, I raise nyansh give una.
I must say I am very impressed with the progress of the HIve Naija community and I commend the likes of @nonsowrites and @belemo for keeping this community alive. Their initiatives so far to keep this community going has been interesting and inspiring. This post will be highlighting my happy and sad moments in my secondary school and I hope you enjoy reading it.
The name of my secondary school was Air Force Comprehensive school located in Uyo. It's actually one of the best schools in Akwa Ibom State. As the name implies, It is a school own by the federal government of Nigeria, controlled by the Air Force and a boarding school.
I gained admission into the school in 2008. That time, I was happy and excited that I've gained admission into the school of my choice but I did not know how the interior was like. When my parents dropped me off, I felt emotional as tears rolled down from my eyes as a result of the whole situation and I didn't want to let the go. They finally left and I had to find my way to the hostel and also find a convenient place to lay my head.
The first night I spent in that school, I felt like I should jump the fence and head home. But I couldn't. (sth were be say that time I no even know road lol).
So as morning reach, normal level na. The first day in school and a Monday morning, everyone is expected to appear very neat.
Things happened but the one I remember well na say e get one time where everybody for my class buy job(punishment). So we were told to get to the hostel, get changed to a white top and white short. I think say we wan do sports lol. Naxo one senior student tell us make we line up in threes'. Naxo we go swim for one big stagnant water were dy dy front of hostel. Chai! I no fit forget that day! Naxo we dy swim dy sing moral. The white where I wear dirty so they I throway am straight. That was a welcome address into the school.
From my js1 to js3, na just suffer I dy suffer for that school. The discipline was just too much, both from the senior students and the soldiers. Throughtout my Junior days, I don't steady in the hostel to avoid seniors sending me errands lol. I no lie I bin sharp oh. Sad thing be say throughout this time, I dy go back house with almost empty box lol.
As I enter ss1, I don be senior student too so jobs bin don reduce for hostel. Na from this class I start to observe seista for school.
Most of the memorable times in my secondary school was when I was in ss3.
E get one of our teachers where dy teach civic education that time, her class is always very dull and boring so tey small talk were you talk she go come dy talk say you be demon say whats in her is greater whats in the world lol. Omor no be small laugh we dy laugh oh.
I can still remember how we gist about girls in the hostel at night. This one go yab this one girlfriend, this one go yab back. mehn. it was fun really.
I started getting emotional when we were counting days to our graduation. I did cry at times. I couldn't imagine not seeing my classmates again after six years of playing, eating, reading, serving punishments together. But e no get as we go do, man gas graduate! I left in 2014.
Academically, I had great teachers to put me through the subjects I offer. The school is always recommended for parents who wish to send their wards to a good school both in discipline and academics.
Thanks for reading!
I had a similar experience in boarding school. Unlike my experience was sell. Fortunately, we had a day-school so occasionally I would skip school to go home until a point my dad could not have it anymore. When he later travelled to Venezuela I decided to quit altogether and become a day-student.
Well, thanks for entering. I do appreciate your contribution to this community. Cheers.
One of the things I was scared of was to jump fence to return home cos I dunno if my dad would drive me back the next second haha. The punishments I received there was hell but at the same time it was fun.
I am happy to be part of this initiative. Thanks bro!
