How to Get More Nigerians on Hive

in Speak Peace3 years ago

Getting more Nigerians on hive is way harder than I expected. I mean, look around you, Nigerians like money a lot and you'd think they'd like to make some extra easy money but it isn't that straightforward.

The first time I learned about hive (then steem) was in 2017, I created an account but I had no idea how to navigate my way around. My friend who had introduced me to hive then hadn't given me any headstart and it was all so confusing. I later got into hive two years later and that took a lot of pushing.

Using myself as a case study, I developed real interest in hive from seeing a hiver at work. It looked like serious business and I saw consistency. I figured you have to love what you do to be that consistent. It was clear it wasn't fast money and I had to be ready to build.

This brings me to my first point;

Go for consistent people

Telling someone about hive is like selling a product. There are different products meant for a select group of people. You can't spend all of your time marketing a product to someone who clearly can't afford it. I know hive caters to everyone but in marketing hive, it's favorable putting more effort in those who have a history of being consistent.

I believe you can tell which one of your family and friends can be consistent and grow things. From conversing with strangers, you also can tell if they're the type to be patient and focused.

The social media un-savvy

People love social media and you should target such people. They're always online so it's easier to get them in on hive. The other people that might be hive material, however, are those who barely use the internet. These are people who don't see the value in other social media and telling them about the value hive brings can get them interested. I personally haven't tried this move and I'll love to test run it.

Writing history

Bloggers, vloggers, and writers are generally a good fit for hive. Anyone with a writing history really, deserves your hive pitch. That doesn't make it any easy to convince them. I like targeting people like me who love to write but then do not earn for it, that's exactly how I got here myself. I tell them how they could earn for all their writing and interactions just the way I do.

Easy money not fast money

As much as I want more Nigerians on hive, I'm thrown off when the first thing I get asked is when they can take their money or how much a post pays. That question is inevitable with most people so you really have to be patient and explain how much patience and consistency is needed when they join hive. Fast money making schemes like ponzis are common around here so the first thing you should do is put out a disclaimer. Hive is not a fast money scheme, you have to put in the work.

You are Hive

Nothing markets hive more than you, this brings us back to consistency as earlier mentioned. When other Nigerians see you get value from what you consistently do, they're either interested or not. You can't force it on anyone, you only can encourage. Post your hive links on social media, get people interested in your stuff and then you can get them involved on hive.

Crypto is all the rave in Nigeria recently and there are a lot of people who want to delve into the world of fintech. Target such people and make them see why hive is the best training field for that.

In conclusion, whatever has value sticks. Try chipping in hive into your conversations frequently, think of it like those ads that are always in your face. You can't really explain it but you suddenly feel the need to buy a product you've known of for the longest time. Soon enough, people would give hive a try just because you always talk about it. Remember to be their guide when you eventually get them here as they try to figure their way around.

Wow nice seeing you put up this nice article, from what I'm seeing I believe you have made your research about it and also have some observation too.

I totally agree with the model or means you stated out to use when trying to get a Nigerian into hive platform.

I will tell you I have two friends who I told about hive and one of them happens to be who I'm living with and he sees me engage in hive platform everyday but he showed no interest.

Could you imagine what he told me that will make him join is when he sees me making money out of it, I just watched him and laughed band said you will turn out to beg me later.

I believe getting Nigerians is difficult but at the same point I think we are wasting our time trying to get people who are not crypto wise into the system.

So I believe we have been talking to the wrong people all this while. So we can actually look for those who have investment on cryptocurrency and have no idea there is platform to communicate with.

Thank you.

Typical 😄

I believe getting Nigerians is difficult but at the same point I think we are wasting our time trying to get people who are not crypto wise into the system

But I had no prior knowledge of crypto before hive 🤔

Really funny right?

But I had no prior knowledge of crypto before hive 🤔

Then I guess you're a researcher then, ability to know more is a secret key, knowledge is power I guess.

But Nigerians we are Mistry, all we want is bulk money and quick cash.

These are really powerful points you raised. And you're absolutely right! Hive definitely is not for everyone and it's wise to be picky with who you share your gold with. The one thing that puts a lot of Hivers off is the question "how much do you earn?" We never really know how to answer that question because our answer is not written in stone.

I think utilizing the #hivenaija on as many social media as possible would get people asking questions. We should want people asking questions. Hive could do a lot for Nigeria.

So, while sharing our posts on other social media, let's try to utilize the tag and see how much exposure it gives us.

Thanks for partaking in this week's contest.

Using the tag is a great idea. I'll include it henceforth.

Truth be told you said it all...i totally agree with the model or means you stated out to use when trying to get a Nigerian into hive platform. They are full of neglective mindset when it comes to cracking there brain.
Thanks for sharing you are doing. Kudos
